Hi! I just find out this forum and I think this is great place for any kind drivers, o/o, est.
I'm Russian. Long time ago I been otr driver in Russia but it was very dangerous and I left this business. Now I'm planning to come back to the truck. I get CDL A learning permit and I will have a road test next week. I don't know how I can work as company driver - all my life I had (and I have) my own business. I never(almost) worked under the boss pressure. I'm planning to build carrier company (about 40-50 trucks). I will go to the truck driving position for learn more about this job in USA (this is not much different than in Russia, but a lot of specific rules, regulations and nuances).

i just happened on this site looking up some other truck related stuff, i live in Ontario, Canada I'm a 28 yr old female, I grew up in this industry, rode with my dad in the truck before i could even walk. Started shunting trailers for a company just out of high school, never went to a driving school pretty much taught myself how to drive, shift gears and back up while doing that job. learned alot along the way from other drivers. I'm an owner-operator, I have been an O/O for all but one of the years I have driven, I run U.S. and some western Canada. When I'm not trucking, I'm either fishing, working on my Mustang or my motorcycle, or putting chrome on my kenworth

Introduction
Hello my handle/board name is Sizzle. I live in the Colorado Rockies. Been driving for 28 months and loved every minute of it. Quit over three months ago and had what appeared to be two great offers.
They weren't so great and I've been looking ever since for the perfect job. Realizing now that I had a good job just had a bad driver manager [dispatcher]. Will actually be going back to my old company. Wish I knew then what I know now. It's just a matter of what b.s. you can put up with.

Hey.
Looking to start training really quick here, maybe in the next two weeks. I've driven four and six wheel vehicles for a living, and want to move up to the big rigs. I believe that I will enjoy trucking, as it fits my personality and lifestyle (I have no life!). Eventually, I'd like to be a successful investor, but until that day I'm going OTR. I'm most likely going to the local community college for training. Havn't picked a company to go with yet, but I still have time to research and decide that. Thanks for all the time and energy you folks have devoted to these forums. You've helped us newbies more than you know.

Greetings!
I'm Ken, and while currently not in the trucking industry, I am seriously considering a return to it in the next three to six months. I have been reading the forums for about six months now.
I drove for about 8 years before a divorce pushed me out. I have remarried, and work in the recreation industry right now as an Assistant Manager. But I work nights, and don't see my wife much now anyway, including weekends. So trucking may see me again (pays better than I make at present). I posted in the Newbie forum, since it has been three years since I drove. I appreciate the responses, invite more input, and encourage everyone to be safe and professional out there. 'Cuz when you think of it, we're all salesmen...selling our profession. Cheers!

My name is Chris, handle's "bowslap"....archery term, and a painful one at that....
I've been driving for 6 years now. I grew up around trucking(father had 28 years, 7 as O/O before he parked it), all I ever really wanted to do was drive a truck(sick, huh?). Worked as a diesel mechanic for 8 years prior to making the jump to the driver's seat. Been married for 10 years, 3 kids, monthly mortgage, standard fare......enjoy being with my family, the outdoors, motorsports.... I found out about this site a while back, figured I'd join in the fun. Help others out, and learn something in the process.

I stumbled across CAD a couple weeks ago. Been hooked ever since! Just got registered last night.
I'm a 50 yr old male from University Place, WA (just outside Tacoma). I have worked with the WA State Department of Corrections for the past 25 years. I can't do it anymore! 25 years in prison and never committed a crime! I am going through a divorce and have 3 grown kids ( 2 boys and a girl). With no family responsibilities and no more mortgage, its my time! I will be attending driving school (CDS in Lakewood, WA) January 15th. I love to golf (even though I suck at it!). I hope to drive for Interstate Distributors, Inc in Lakewood. I live about 20 minutes away from their corporate office there. My motto: Life is too short to take seriously, no one comes out of it live. Love these little smiley faces :P |
