Happened on this site while looking for an old B model Mack to restore. I still hold a class 1 CDL although I have been teaching at University for the past thirty years. I drove old B model macks to put myself through University back in the 70's - logging, lowbed, dumps you name it. Still love the whine of a turbo rising and falling as I coast along side a big rig on the highway. Never get driving out of your system! I really enjoyed reading the thread on B models and shifting the two sticks - brought back a lot of great old memories and stories. So I joined CAD to feel, at least a little, like I am still in the community. Cheers,

I am a one truck carrier who drives and I have a driver as well.
I am enjoying the trucking business after one year now and hope I can continue.
I have done many things in the past, from dairy farming, trimming cows hooves, and teaching public school.

I think I enjoy trucking as much as any vocation.

As with any vocation it takes alot of time and energy.

But I think I enjoy the communication end of it as much as the driving.

That is speaking with dispatchers and other drivers.

I am praising the Lord that I can still enjoy working.

Default New member....

Hey everyone, just wanted to chime in New to the Board, just wanted to introduce myself.

I am 29yr old, 3 kids, one on the way. Happily married. I drove for 3 years and owned a trucking company as well, within that time. I sold my assets off and closed the doors in 2006. Still have my CDL-A with tanker, I refuse to add Haz Mat because i don't believe they pay enough for the Hazmat freight for anyone to pull it, compared to the risk. I drove mostly Reefer's during my driving career.

I have been out of the transportation business since 2006, even though i did drive for someone in 2007 semi-locally. Didn't really care for that. Now I have moved to the dispatching side of business, and my wife and I have just started our independent dispatch service. We have talked about opening another trucking company up, but have not pushed the idea off the table yet. So if anyone is in need of someone to take care of the back office stuff and wants to just drive, let me know.

Some things i like are Business (my wife calls me obsessive), Scuba diving, Aviation, motorcycles, Reading (must be business related), investing, kids, church, and spending time with my family. Not much on Golf even though i do enjoy chasing the little ball through the course. Just dont have the time. I love to cook, hunt, camp, fish.

I grew up in the trucking business, my father and uncle had 17 trucks at one point. I would really like to put together another trucking company, by maybe combining some independents. When it is in your blood I guess it never leaves.

I believe in the Constitution. As far as politics, "Constitutionalist" is what i would be classified as.

Oops, guess I should introduce myself. Current company driver for Western Expreess. I've worked for a few carriers in the past, and have even "participated" in L/P programs...yeah, I know...I know. lol. Been driving big rigs since 2005.
