Introducing myself: Hello, I am a newer driver, live in the Cincinnati , Ohio. Just wanted to take a min. and say hello. Enjoy reading everything that is posted on the forum. I enjoy the kind of people in the trucking industry, overall we seem to be a little more down to earth and realistic about things in life with a twist of humor. Thats all for now, ttl.

Thought I had commented here only to realize I hadn't...

Got my CDL in 1990. Drove till 98 and went to school. That whole "grass is greener" thang. At least it had a business background to it that's helping me now.

In 2012, came back to trucking. I started out as a company driver with a Qualcomm and in July 2012, got my own truck. In July 2013, I got my own authority and am truly and Independent O/O now.

Run reefer and have full authority except for CA. CARB can keep it.

Hi all! I am truly Roxie and I am the wife of an O/O. Proud to be the mother of 1 son, who is grown with 2 of his own. I was a WAC in the Army, when we were still called WACs, as a mechanic, administrative clerk and a photographer specializing in crime scene/forensic photography and have worked for Uncle Sam for 27 years. For those macho truckers, I have opinions and they are all mine (not to be confused with my husbands). Hubby wants me to either team with him or dispatch/broker when I retire. Don't know if that will work for me since the sleeper area would make it too easy (and close) for me to choke the life out of him, if need be!

Hello to everbody on these forums. My name is Troy Im currently taking a cdl training course, and im in my 4th week of training. Ive passed all the dmv tests to obtain my learners permit. Ive passed all the 390s. Ive also got a pretty good understanding of how the log books work(though i still need more practice on them). I have a couple of questings I was hoping you all could help me with. Im unfortunately a slow learner. Right now Im struggling with the driving part of my cdl training. I tend to get nervous behind the wheel, becuase of the size of the truck and trailer. Im getting better with it, but i am still a little to nervous behind the wheel. I was wondering if anyone else felt this way when they first started out, and what helped them through it. One of my biggest problems when driving is stalling out when I have to take off from a complete stop.
I get very nervous and Im afraid the truck will roll back into another vehicle before I get moving. I know how to properly use a clutch in a car, but becuase of the trucks size im always afraid of the truck rolling back on me. Also I was wondering if anyone else on here had a learning disability like myself and is a sucessful truck driver. I really want to make this work for me, as I do like trucking. Im just frustrated with myself that i cant get over this fear factor. Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hello,

My name is Jamie and my Dad, Truck Driving Jim, has been trucking for over 50 years. Due to health and family issues he is currently parked at home but he is in need of all the truckers to send out a CB radio call and communicate the word around to everyone! I nominated him to win a free roof through No Roof Left Behind organization and after pleading our case we were picked to be in the final four! He is a hard working trucker and all around great guy! Im sure some of you may know him, he has worked with WW, Raven Transport, Bynum Transport, Indian River and a few others over the years. He goes by Jimmy, and he has always been there for everyone else so I am calling on everyone I know and anyone that might be willing to help to please go to this link and vote, then confirm your vote in your email (it may go to spam), also like my facebook page I made for the cause, and please get the word out across the states so everyone knows to vote for Truck Driving Jim. If you know Truck Driving Jim I can get the word back to him and you can get in touch with him (he does not use a computer). This means the world to me and after all the years he spent on the road providing for us, and still managing to be home for field trips, most birthdays and other important life events I owe this to him!

Thank you!
Jamie
