Default About to start and confused

I am 54 and about to retire from my old driving job where I drove much smaller trucks. Now, I am looking for a company that will pay me well and also won't send me away from home for too long. There have been a few companies I have been looking at, but I'm not sure who will treat me well and also meet my needs, as my wife will be staying home a lot I cannot leave her alone for an extended period of time. Any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thank you

oh yeah, I live in so cal, near la area...sorry forgot to specify...thank you guys

You might try the great pumpkin they have alot of dedicated gigs always open it seems my advise is go over to Schneiders Forum called www.pumpkindriver.com and take a look around ya never know. good luck BTW the forum is not run by Schneider but by drivers and former drivers of them.

Depending on the area you live in you could try getting on with local companies or LTL companies like ABF, Fed X, etc as a local or line haul driver. Also if you live in or near a larger city many of the major trucking companies have terminals and may have either local or dedicated work.

I would also suggest that you try Roehl. Depending on where you live they have a 7 days on 7days off plan, a 7 days on 3 days off 7 days on 4 days off plan, and 10-13 days out plan with a stop by home time during the days. These plans are all dependent on where you live. They also have their own school very reasonable.

I am doing Southeastern Regional and am home 36-48 hours every week.

Knight has a 4 on and 4 off plan going on in CA. I like my 2 on and 5 off better.

I would stay away from all the freight companies. Go with a manufacturer with his own fleet.
Where do you live?
