Default Advice on a cheap Laptop...and DeLorme

What do you guys think of this laptop and what's the most you would pay,and do you think the wifi card could later be switched out with a wireless card?
Oh yeah, this DeLorme 2007 is half price, can you see anything wrong with it?

Thanks very much,
Randy

you can buy a internet card and stick it into the PC card slot of your laptop. Which laptop to buy really depends what you want to do with it. I suppose you want a laptop to bring with you when driving ?
I bought a Dell laptop 3 years ago , no complaint so far.

I've bought all my copies of Delorme on eBay, and had no problems.

Most new lapotps will come with internal WiFi, which isn't something you swap out, as it's part of the computer.

As far as a computer, if all you want is something to run DeLorme on, you don't need an expensive computer. Pretty much anything you buy will run it. I'd recommend NOT buying one from a store, and customize it online, so as not to get something you don't need. You can buy one online, without many extra features you may or may not want, for less than $600.

Laptop looks ok, but allot of times stores like Best Buy, Circuit City et. have sales on laptops. Especially on the day after thanksgiving.

That Delorme package is probably ok, but it uses an older 12 channel receiver. There's a guy on eBay (I think his ID is gps4evyone) that sells packages with newer 20 channel receivers for about the same price as the one you listed. I bought a package from him with Streets and Trips 2006 and a Holux 213 receiver and it works great.

Get MS Streets and Trips 2007. It's much easier to use than Delorme and now comes with a new GPS receiver that features the latest new SIRFIII technology. Amazon is going to start shipping MS Streets and Trips on Oct 12. However, some other retailers are already shipping the product. I can't wait to get my copy soon.

You can buy a brand new Dell Inspiron B130 laptop for $499 delivered. Very nice unit and will do everything you need.

I purchased a new laptop about a month ago from Best Buy. It is a Compaq and I got it on sale for $399. It's got the big 15.4" screen and does everything I need it to do.

We bought a Dell and got the Delorme software from this company...

Unfortuantly I had to cancel the order because it was out of stock and my dh wanted it that weekend so we ended up paying twice the amount at Best Buy.
