Default Advice for new drivers.

It is best if you finance your own schooling, like I did because of the following facts:

If you train through a company, they will have you by the balls because they will control your loads, days off and the amount of money you can make.

I've heard of many stories of newbies not making enough money with their sponcers, and being forced to find a new job else where. this mistake creates a situation because now you the driver will have to pay the company back for the trainning they have provided you.

Many driver are then left with a screwed up credit, and unable to find a good job because of it.

When I went to driving school i took out a personal loan because of a lower interest rate, every situation is diffrent, but that is the best way to go.

After school I worked for TMC (flatbed) this company was great for a new driver. The pay was good and their reputation is fair. I drove OTR for about 8 months to gain some experience. I then found a local job hauling gas tankers. A very good job and home everyday, I found another tanker gig driving local and with a teamsters union, benefits are great and im bringing home the same as if I was over the road.

OTR is not for everyone, I enjoyed it but i missed my wife and kids greatly. My boys started to screw up in school. When the cats away the mice comes out to play.

My advice is to finance your own schooling to avoid credit problems
and dont let a company take control of your future.

Yeah....and another bit of common sense no-brainer wisdom... when your wipers are on, your headlights should be on.

How many times have you been in a pouring down rainstorm with your wipers trying to keep up and you see some ignorant cementhead driver just driving along without any lights on?

What's up with that?

That's an accident waiting to happen sooner or later.

Struggling to get past another truck on a slight downhill? Use your Aberdeen accelerator, this will give you a 5mph .....no wait 10 mph....had on 25mph.....Holy shite 40mph boost.
Coming to a halt may prove difficult afterwards though
