Default To all the recruiters at CAD

I have a question. Seeing as the turnover rate is so high, and the pool of candidates that want to live like vagrants is dwindling, have you ever given any thought to hitting up the homeless shelters? That would be a noble act, helping the less fortunate while filling your seats. Talk about a win win.

that's a great idea.. but the Mexican truck drivers should be here next year and should bring the rate of pays so low that the homeless would even consider.

Uh, I don't know where you are from, but there already are Mexican drivers here. Sheesh, even the trucking rags are in Spanish now.

Or, do you mean the Mexican trucking companies? Don't worry, they are only going to be allowed to haul freight to and from Mexico, you know like the Canadians can only haul to and from Canada? It is called cabotoge. So unless you haul stuff to the Mexican border, you should be safe.

Yes I meant Mexican Trucking Companies, and no i don't travel to the Mexico border, but those who do will be out of a job, and they will apply to get my job and will do it cheaper than I am doing it now.

Don't forget trucking companies are always hiring for a reason until truckers are classified as voleenteers.

Ive hired drivers out of shelters before. Usually its because a driver has been living out of his truck on an OTR job...quits and doesnt have any place to go. I would say, I get a call from a driver in a shelter about once every 2 months or so.

Bush not to halt Mexico truck plan
By Steve Hirsch
August 18, 2007
The Bush administration yesterday said it intends to go ahead with a pilot project that will allow up to 100 Mexico-based trucking companies to operate in the U.S. beyond border states.

Most Mexican trucking companies are allowed to operate only within border commercial zones extending about 25 miles into the U.S.

The pilot project, aimed at proving Mexican carriers can operate safely beyond border zones, is an attempt to implement a 2001 order under the North American Free Trade Agreement requiring highways in Canada, Mexico and the United States to be open to trucking companies in all three countries.

The project would allow up to 100 Mexican carriers to operate throughout the U.S. for a year and up to 100 U.S. carriers to operate in Mexico for the same period.

But then you have to ask.... Why are homeless people homeless? People don't all the sudden decide to be homeless one day. Sure, some people go through some hardships but most homeless people have serious mental and addiction issues. Most have been through the court systems and are known on a first name basis. Do you really want them behind the wheel of a truck?
