10 hours of off duty or sleeper berth or a combination of both.

Example:
4 hours off
5 sleeper berth
1 hour off

5 to 6 six hours sleeping, the rest is fudged. If I sleep more than 6, I'm worthless as I'm groggy and tired all day, less than 5 I'm dangerous. I always try to get six and I'm good to go. As long as it looks legit, you're good. And no, I'm no cowboy, I just know what my body and mind need to be well-rested. And believe me, I love my sleep!

Think you need to go to the FMCSA web site and read part 395 again.

Read it again uturn, he said 10 hrs....
Only because he edited it. .......and then again, nowhere does it say you must spend 10 hours in the sleeper berth and it is the only way to satisfy your break requirement.
