Well what you didn't read is how the FMCSA and the DOT know exactly where to look now to find the hidden violations. As far as anything else....I don't need to explain myself to you anymore, because you will never admit when you are wrong. It's just a waste of time to even try to communicate with you. It has no bearing here, so what are you talking about. You are on the wrong thread to start your bitc%ing. You and I were not even speaking in this thread, so that must be the 7 year old coming out in you....lol but I still think you have a lovely name...lol You started this one sister...lol

Gentlemen,
I feel the need to put in my 2 shiny pennies. True, after the day's gone, the fault lies with the driver. However, L&H is a Northeast regional carrier, and as most drivers know, that live in this area, you will NOT make enough money for water, if you drive legal. Because the short miles coupled with the long hours that are involved. Most people that do this have families and want to be home every weekend. Fair enough. The ONLY solution to end this, is to pay these drivers for the time they put in. Imagine this; a load of paint from York Pa is going to Brooklyn. The rate is about $700. Roughly 150 miles, give or take a few. The driver makes what, 150@40cpm. $60. A few bucks for fuel and toll. Good money for the company, but with live load and unload and traffic, it could be a full day's work for the driver. This kind of work should be paid by the hour. Period! I'm just trying to show how the companies can be faulted. They are all money hungry. I would not be so quick to judge DollarShort. You really must live in this area to understand, and I really think he does. When all the jobs that you see in the papers are NE regionals, it is very frustrating, and believe me, the companies are all the same.

Look I feel for the drivers who are stuck in regions where the miles are limited and the resulting income is minimal, but running illegal is a crap shoot and sooner or later you're going to roll snake eyes......and when you do, if your lucky it's only fines you're facing and that puts you even further behind..........god forbid you become one of those standing before some judge and the charge is negligent vehicular homicide.........I don't think you're going to get much sympathy from the court with the argument the companies are making way more money and I'm just trying to make a living. Companies will continue to pay drivers crumbs as long as there is a ready supply of warm bodies willing to climb up into the cab for an unreasonable rate.................dry up the resource and the companies will have no choice but to offer better pay. How to do that ...........well that's the $100,000 question. There will always be some one who will accept the pennies.............. I would say the answer is going to have to come from a legislative action. Drivers fall in an exempt classification right now for overtime and hourly pay............lets image what would happen if all the underpaid drivers parked the truck for 48 hours..............just in time shipping is a norm now in most major industries...........when companies are hit where it hurts the most they start listening. Right now companies have the upper hand.............they have money, they have influence with politicians.........and to put it plainly, they play under the ground rules that drivers are for the most part not the most highly educated people and they certainly aren't organized. Now before someone starts thinking I'm advocating forming a Union.........I'm not, I'm as anti-union as Jerry Falwell is religious. But changes have been made in society by organized grass roots groups without unions............i.e civil rights, farming co-ops, building green, etc., etc...............imagine what a million trucks clogging the highways and roads of Washington DC would do.......talk about getting the attention of the politicians, not to mention the lost revenues of companies and customers.........like I said, hit them where it hurts the most and you get their attention. As long as drivers feel the only answer is to drive illegally.......the companies are right about our level of intelligence and the pay will remain crappy.

Please read my post again. I'm not giving justification. It is just a reason why drivers do it. I'm not doing it. I have a cushy local pulling flats.
What I'm saying is that the companies are aware of the facts, and when the driver screws up they just wash their hands. If the're so concerned about safety, why don't they pay the driver by the hour?
