You can go out and buy 3 1/2 inch computer fans, wire them together, then put one set in blowing into the cab and then the other set blowing out of the cab. While it will not keep it from getting hotter, it will keep a breeze and the air moving in the cab.

If you put a fan in your truck you will have to open a window. The more you open the window the more air will blow on you from the fan. Without the windows open you will cause a negative pressure to build up with no air flow to the fan. Ever lay in bed with the overhead fan on and it seems like the air blows on you for a little while then stops then starts again? That's because you have created a vacuum without an air source.

One more tidbit. If your in an area like Arizona with no humidity you can hang a wet towel in the opening of the window and have your fan blow air out another window. This is a home made air conditioner. People have been doing this for hundreds of years. Doesn't work in a humid climate though.

They also do the same thing in swimming pools in those climates. Most pools have a water fountain blowing water into the air. It's not for looks. It's to cool the water down so it's not so hot.

That concludes todays physics lesson.

I park the truck at the terminal, drive home, and crank the central air up so it's nice and cool. Crack open a few ice-cold beers, eat a home-cooked meal, and later on I'm out like a light on my Serta mattress.

No over-crowded truckstops or pickle parks to deal with
No standing in line down in El Paso behind 20 other sweaty guys waiting on a shower
No lot lizards, panhandlers, crackheads, or DOT banging on the sleeper
No buzzing reefers
No municipal idle restrictions
No pee bottles or trash strewn everywhere
No diesel smoke
No Opti-Idle waking me up every 15 minutes
No newbies backing into me
No Qualcomm going off in the middle of the night

Go local and you'll always get a good night's sleep!

Amen brother, amen! Except mine is a Sealy. An expensive @$$ pillowtop that's 10,000,000% more comfortable than the mattress in my old truck.

I'm not even local. I guess if I ever leave to find another job, I'll call this "OTR" experience, even though I have rarely stepped into my sleeper, and I could do this dedicated deal just as easily in a day cab.

It all fits neatly within my 14 hours too.

Life is good.

Here's hoping everything keeps working out.

Well, I do. And I do the same thing. And i make a good living.

However, if I was OTR, I would get one of those tornato fans. They direct a good portion of air for the price. The downside is they use alot of power, and if you don't have good batteries, they will drain them. Also, they are kinda loud, and they don't last long, about three months. You can find these fans at some truckstops, around $20.
