Default C.R. England in Bussiness 87 yrs ? Remember When !

C.R.England's new promotions for driver recruiting states they have been in biz 87 yrs. that would be 1921.I remember in the late 60's early 70's in S,L,C, Ut. seeing Chester's large cars most of the time than not Bright Red K-W W- 9'S with Big power that were'nt govered for the granny lane which they hauler either dairy (cheese ) or potatoes from Id. which is were they started out. hauling to many points for delivery.Back in the day of Sam Tanksley of Cape Giradeau Mo. & Carretta Trucking out of N,J when fuel was 35 to 50 cents a gallon. 1921 that must of been on dirt road's in Northern Utah & Southern Idaho in wagons I guess. Do you remember when I do I -80 was'nt even completed when ol' Sam Tanksley & Carretta ,& Willis Shaw ran at a high rate of speed across Wyoming headed East bound do you remember when I do? that was Trucking then 8)

The company I'm with has been in business since 1923, all family owned. About 350 trucks.

I'll have to agree those were the Good Ol' day's running from Salinas, or Oxnard ,Ca practicly NoN-Stop to Hunt's Point NY & Ol' Tanksley running his Pete Cabovers up to around Approx sometime around 86 or so when a new management group tried to save Sam Tanksley's. I guess U can still see some of the terminal in Cape G. several of the managers opened smaller carriers down the road. such as Delta for one.It is said that Sam's son ran a Refer Co' Ohio Pacific. It is said that Charle Harris owned half or so of Sam Tanksley's & the Cape Pete dealership & when he died there was no successor in his family. And I don't doubt that the England family could have been in the Transportation bussiness since 21' to some degree or another the old Mormon Familys have been cultivating in Norther Utah & in Idaho since the 1800's in the Ag & Dairy when they migrated to that area of the country
