Default California Commercial Drivers Test question

How many questions are there and how many can you miss and still pass ?

I'm studying for it now but I just wantto know my margin of error.

Plan on them not allowing you to miss any.

The air brake test (COLA) cannot have any errors. The pretrip can have lots of errors and the driving can have minor errors. A lot depends on the examiner and whether they think you have control of the vehicle or not.

Can any comment on the class A California permit test. From the DMV website I took the sample test, but it seemed to have very easy questions. Is the permit test really that easy??

Read the handbook cover to cover and should have no problem passing the test.

Ditto on the COLA.
Tattoo it on your brain and do it everyday up until you have to take the test. Do it while the radio is on, any kind of distraction. One of the tricks that some examiners like to do is ask you a question during the COLA to see if you know it, or are just repeating stuff from a piece of paper.
And you have to do the COLA exactly, you cant miss something and come back to it, once you screw it up, thats it, test over.

As far as the pre-trip goes, you will miss some. You have to remember that this guy hears this junk many times during the day and he'll daydream and lose interest during the test and the bottom line is, if he didnt hear it, you didnt say it.

Dont argue with the examiner, be nice, friendly and professional.

There were 2 guys testing the same day as myself. One guy failed the alley dock and started screaming at the examiner. He got banned from that DMV and had to retest at another location. You can bet they had notes for the next examiner to see. I never heard if he got his CDL or not.

Another guy failed the COLA and started screaming at the examiner too. He came back in a hour later and they wouldn't let him retest until the next day. Had he kept his cool they would have let him retest that day.
