Default College Student/looking 2 drive during the summer I drove 4

Hello Everyone,
I’m student in Minneapolis, Minnesota, I used to drive for Werner from last January-summer months. I left the trucking business to enroll into school for the fall semester. My question is I’m 25 years old and still have a clean CDL class “A” and my health card doesn’t expire until 2008 I believe. Would it be possible to drive again during the upcoming summer after classes?

The only thing is I don’t want to pay for a refresher course and I only want my OTR training to be a maximum 10 days. Would this be possible?

thanks
-sb

Default Summer Driving

You could probably work for a local company. As far as the medical card, may not make a difference due to companies wanting their own Docs/PAs doing a new physical exam. You may not have to do time with a company trainer other than a couple loads or so due to less than a year since you last drove. BOL

look for the farm/ag stuff for the summer, there are always opportunities for that stuff and they normally are not as anal as some of these OTR outfits that has the "to be a trucker you must live in a truck for weeks at a time" requirement.

Check out your local moving companies(Allied, Mayflower, Etc.) They get busy in the summer and may need the help.

like one of the other guys said, check your local ag. haulers, i don't know where you're located at, but i'm in florida and the picking season stays busy during the summer, they always need drivers to haul oranges, and produce, and i think that would beat the hell out of going through the run around of an OTR company just for a few months of work.
