Default Companies that pay percentage

Are there any companies hiring newbies that pay a percentage instead of paying by the mile?

There is lots. But it's the same scam as cpm. Your time is worth nothing.

Most carriers are going to require at least 6 months to 2 years experience regardless of how they compensate drivers.

It disagree. I get paid percentage and it is not the same as CPM. We don't haul cheap frieght. Do I get paid for everyhour? No. If I divide my gross pay by my hours (logged legal!!!) do I make a very good living? Yes I do. My cpm pay for my last oversize load to California came out to .84 cpm as a company driver. If I broke it down by hours on duty (logged legal again) it came out to just over $35.00 an hour. I am new to otr and have been with this company for about 4 months. You just need to do your research otherwise no matter how you get paid you might not make as much as you could.

Sounds like it can be to the drivers advantage. You just need to do your research. But, what kind of percentage do the companies generally pay?

TMC pays on a performance based scale. There are many factors that give you points, mostly fuel economy and out of route miles. The points that you earn one month determine your pay percentage for the next month. You only earn a percentage of the load rate after the fuel surcharge and any other fees are removed from the total sum that TMC gets paid for the load. You can earn as low as 23% or as high as 32% with most drivers earning 28% to 29%. To earn lower than 28% is almost impossible unless you are really careless.

I have always made more money on percentage. That is the way I pay my own drivers. I pay 25%. Most will pay somewhere between 22-30%. Whether you will do better depends on the rates for which you are hauling.

you are incorrect grasshopper. I get 25% of the GROSS revenue, that means when the truck is getting detention pay for sitting more than an hour, I am also getting paid..

I get 23%. Now that sounds low as compared to TMC average of 28-29% or even the 32% But as I stated before we don't haul cheap freight. Almost everything we haul is oversize. Now have I hauled the crappy tarped lumber loads? Yes, only because it delivered 20 miles from one of our terminals where I picked up another oversize to come home with. I don't see why I should haul 5 loads in a week when I can haul 2 and still make very good money.
