I delivered gasoline in the Seattle Metro area from 1988 till 2003. Made $15.90 and + OT when I started 88, and was making $25.90 and hour + Shift differential of $1.00 ph + OT, when I was laid off in 03. A driver doing that sort of work, in the Seattle market, can and does average anywhere from 150 to 450 miles a shift. If a driver has a 150 mile night, then that driver hauled 5 to 6 loads. If a driver has a 450 mile shift, then that driver hauls at most 4 loads.
We were limited to 60 hours a week, because the company felt that working more hours was "detramental" to home life. Our shirts were 4 days a week, 12 hour shifts, with a driver waiting for the truck at the end of 12. Best year I had was $78K, and that included a 5th day every week.

to the guy that started this thing...does it make you feel better about yourself to tell everyone how much money you make. What ever happened to being happy with yourself and providing for your family?? Why do you feel the need to try to insult others and make them feel inadequate for the money that they make. Who cares what you make?? But i guess that is the kind of ego boost you need, because in that world that you live in it is all about the money. For everyone else out there, just be happy with what you choose to do. If you wanna make more money you can find it out there. If you wanna work less hard and make less money and that makes you happy, then so be it. Be happy at home and happy at work is what i think is important here.

hey JEDFXG, what exactly in BROWN67's post offended you, and how did you get out of it that he was trying to boast his confidence, or make us other drivers feel inadequate with our current salarys. I think it's good that he makes that kind of money off the hours he works, i was happy with the little over 32,000 i made this year, but his salary at UPS gives me something to shoot for, i'm 23 and have a lot of years left to work and it's nice to know about the oppurtunities at UPS. I think your gripes, and you harsh feelings about BROWN67 are going to fall upon deaf ears, hell if i made that kind of money and only worked 45 hours a week, i'd be the first one to post that too.

nothing offended me, just do not understand the numbers. He could day that he works for buster brown and makes good money, and he would recomend them to drivers. I have thought about it myself, nut am very happy where i am. Glad you are happy with your pay but did not need to see what you make to be happy for you. I am happy with what i make and support my family very well, however it is no ones business the amount. Because soem people, and you have heard tham on the CB, that need to put others down because they do not make as much as them. I did not mean anything by it, just the way i am i guess. if you have a good driving record and stable work history i would suggest companies like buster brown, abf, fed ex freight, etc. thats all, sorry

Is it possible that he makes that much as $125,000 per year? Maybe. If I made that, would I tell anyone where I worked? No...No...HELL NO. And you can call me a liar all you want. Do I believe he makes that amount? No. But I'm not the one getting the paycheck. If I was him, I'd just tell ya your right, I'm lying, and only make 25,000 per year. And learn to keep my mouth shut next time questions about incomes comes up. Me myself, I'll make 50-60,000 this year, plus other income on the side.
