that is what i was trying to say, who cares what anybody makes. as long as you are happy, what is the point in telling anyone what you make? what purpose does this serve??

Hey JEDFXG, good explanation of what you meant, i thought you were taking offense to what he had said, i take interest in what people make per year because it gives me a better idea of what i can work towards, i only worked 11 months, and for a local excavation company in Florida and made a little over 32,000, hope to do around 40,000 this year. But for the guys out there who work for the LTL local companys, or any companys like that, i'm interested to hear what they make, because it kinda helps me gauge what i should be expecting in the years to come.

i happen to work similar to buster brown, i am with a contractor at fed ex ground. I recomend these types of jobs to everybody. Excellent pay for little work. I do line haul, work tues am thru sat early afternoon. I get 2600 miles a week and great hometime. leave tues 4am back home wed 9 am. till thur 4am and back fri 9am again till sat 4am back sat around 1pm. as for pay i do well for myself. however very easy work...no docks, no waiting at truckstop for a load..i only go to truckstops to buy coffee. i get paid to drive which is why i became a driver...love it and would highly recommend this area of trucking, check in you area for abf, ups, fed ex freight, fed ex ground, con way, etc. you may have to do casual work for a while but is worth it. i did not mean that i did not beleive buster brown, just no need for it out in public in my opinion

I made about $32k last year with Con-Way; I also got my CDL for free so figure at a minimum that's another $1500.
I was a casual/ trainee until April 20 when I got my CDL. I got a start time in mid July doing City P&D/outbound dock. I'm on track to earn about $40k this year working 38-42 hrs per week. If I wanted to I could get a line bid and earn $55-70k, but working 7pm-8am and going over Donner nightly is not my thing. Ian

Making good money is nothing to be ashamed over. Posting you make 80K is good but over a 100K is something to pretend is not happening?
Those thinking of entering this industry need to know what the ends of the spectrum are to make a life decision to get into trucking or not, and hiding the upper end to avoid making those that make less feel bad is not an accurate portrayal of the income range. Produce pays an O/O more per mile than dry van in this area, and I would hope every area. It's time sensitive at both ends, requires a more expensive trailer as well as fuel to keep the thing cold (or warm). Chasing produce with your own authority is very lucrative if you know what you are doing, I don't, but am learning. Guy I drove for netted over a 100K per truck. Slipseated each run to the next driver, very efficient, and heavy miles in Aero tractors. Interesting UPS posts, looks like those drivers are paid what they are worth.

I would also like to add that earnings per year is only one thing to look at for someone in or looking to get into the driving racket.
You have to look at job security, bennies hours worked/hometime, level of BS from the company..etc..etc..etc. IMHO the city P&D driver earning $45-55k year has a much better deal than someone running his or her a** off OTR who never gets home but earns $80k. It comes down to quality of life, not just the numbers on your pay stub. BTW Brown 67, I like your new avatar pic of the pimped out package car. Is the PADS have ice on it too?
