I've had that problem -- being told diff things by diff ppl in the same company. When we get done with school we're def going to Crete, because it does seem like a good choice for a career. My husband and I don't want to be job hoppers.

Starting pay for a driver with 1-3 yrs experience is 41cpm. That is all empty and loaded miles. If you have a solid work history (no more than 2 jobs in the last 3 year) I think they will bump that to 42cpm. Check their website for confirmation.

Also note Crete pays practical miles as opposed to HHG short miles. My actual miles and paid miles are very close. Companies that pay HHG miles will result in noticeably lower pay for doing the same work. My last two trips:

Omaha, NE with DH to St. Joseph, MO and deliver in Berwick, ME:
Paid miles=1659 Actual miles=1666.

Berwick, ME with DH to Jay, ME and deliver in Mattoon, IL:
Paid miles=1377 Actual miles=1382

Ocationally I even get paid for more miles than I actually run.

Home time is 1 day off for 6 days out.

I personally think it's a toss-up. Crete and Schneider are both good companies. 8)

Hope you don't mind me jumping in here. Does Crete hire CT drivers? We're researching companies and don't really understand how they hire. Do you have to live within a certain area of a terminal? Schneider is not too far from us.

Crete does hire from Conn. We haul copper out of Norwich.
