He said 4.5 hours ROUND TRIP. So that's 9 hours of driving total. Plus 5-6 hours working the dock on top of that.

That's a rough schedule. It would be different if he just dropped his set in the yard, hooked, and went on his merry way. But that patio party in the middle makes a big difference.

Yeah, I would be taking some serious power naps with that kind of run.

driving in the day is pretty easy IMO

I agree.... but with ANY professional driving position, you should be responsible enough to make sure you get the amount of sleep need to do your job safely.... correct? The amount of get togethers, parties, movies, dinners, ect..... that I've had to miss, cancel, ect.... is unbelievable! But I do it so that my head is on the pillow ATLEAST 6 hours!!! I normally start out anywhere from 3am-7am daily, depending on where I'm going that day, the dock time, ect....
try starting at 7pm and finishing at 8am 5 day per week...... it will wear you down.

and even if i get 7-8 hours of sleep... i still have to take a nap..... NOT everyones body was made for night driving.....

when i work at night in the lumber yard i was fine..... but driving is less active...

try it then you wont be so cocky about missing things

The term "Round Trip" has always meant from your origin, to your destination, and back..... thus completing a ROUND TRIP!!! However, if you are right.... he would be in violation of D.O.T. rules/regs!!! Which AGAIN.... puts EVERYONE at risk!!!

Just to clear things up..... For anyone who works at conway already knows that you run to different places for l/h..

Mainly i drive 4.5 hours round trip......but sometimes it is up to 6-7 hours round trip.... it just depends on where i go...

And when i get to where i'm going , i have work the dock... which is exhausting itself.

The average day is 12 hours logged... really more like 13 with breaks.

and no i dont run illegal... so dont start rumors...

And finally, the accident i had was NOT MY FAULT....but i did take responsibility, since i was driving....

How the hell am i supposed to check an air valve in the truck that would require the removal of the fuel tank....???? (which is was caused the accident)

That's not what he meant. Use your head. What kind of LTL company has a driver do a 2.25 turnaround LOL?

Nah, unlike OTR, LTL companies are very strict about staying within your 14 hours. Plus you are allowed one 16 hour exemption.

Don't know why he said 5-6 hours on the dock. Looks he he cleared it up in his last post.

I do drive 2.25 hours each way somedays..... 244 miles round trip.... & work the dock for 6 hours....

its how conway does business, but yes they are 440mile & 558 miles round trip runs also.

if i run out of hours... i pull over and get picked up from my terminal.... Its happened a couple of time in snow storms....

Where do you get off lecturing ANYONE with the driving record you have? :roll:

Let's see...2 speeding tickets, 1 moving violation for failing to obey traffic signals, an accident, you were caught(but not cited) with NO log book and you admitted you've blown past weigh stations. :roll:

Come to think of it Unkut, you should have your CDL revoked. I'd rather have a safe 22 year old than some reckless guy like you running rampant. It's just a matter of time. You don't learn from your mistakes and those mistakes will kill you, kill someone else or you'll get your CDL pulled before that happens. Hopefully latter of the three happens first.

Maybe those daycab drivers are paid hourly and are milking the clock. I ran a daycab fleet 25 trucks, the contract said 5am-5pm, but it was actually from when the driver left home until he returned home or went into a motel for the night. Daycabbers and regional drivers have to HUMP way more than an OTR driver and most OTR drivers that are lazy cant cut it running regional or as daycabbers. My hat goes off to good daycabbers because its hard work that others dont understand.....he's home every night, he doesnt have any problems :?
