DOT Physical
HI. Here is my situation i got my class a cdl 3 months ago and so i needed to go and get a DOT physical so i went this morning. I passed all the tests with flying colors Blood pressure, hearing and vision. After completing all the tests with the doctors assistant the doctor comes in and he checks me out. He looks at my eyes and has me follow his finger like the cops do when they think youre drunk lol. He tell me that i have a lazy eye i already knew that and tells me i cant pass the physical cuz of it but i have 20/20 vision both eyes. What should i do. Please tell me any info is greatly appreciated thanks.

This is the FMCSA requirements for vision:
(b)(10) Has distant visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in each eye without corrective lenses or visual acuity separately corrected to 20/40 (Snellen) or better with corrective lenses, distant binocular acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in both eyes with or without corrective lenses, field of vision of at least 70º in the horizontal meridian in each eye, and the ability to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing standard red, green, and amber;
What I suggest you do is see an eye doctor and have your eyes checked and have your peripherial vision measured and if all checks out then take that information with you to your DOT physical. If that fails you can appeal the decision to the FMCSA.
