Endorsement testing
Is it true that you have to be road tested on doubles-triples and a tanker to get these endorsements?
I live in FL and was told this by a very unpleasant lady at the DMV yesterday. I always thought this only applied to air brakes, school buses, and combination vehicles which I have already done.

I was really feeling down after I went to the DMV yesterday, because I am a a local beverage delivery guy and I'm trying to move on to something that pays a little better and will not involve heavy lifting all day every day for almost no money. Being a self trained truck driver sucks alot. I keep getting stuck in class B trucks and hate having to keep transitioning from a truck that requires you to start turning as soon as possible to one that you have to wait till the last possible moment.
None of the freight companies around here will hire you without endorsements, so I was a little worried how I was supposed to get them since my company has neither tankers or doubles.

The FMCSA requires extra training for people who have never pulled doubles or tankers if they are taking a job for the first time dealing with these types of trailers, but the federal regs only require a person to take a written test for doubles, tankers, and hazmat (plus the background check for haz mat) endorsements.

Endorsement Testing
I live in and have a Florida "A" CDL with everything except "P" endorsement. I've not pulled dubs/trips or tanks yet but would expect that training when I do. The only skills test I'm aware of, other than the original testing for an A or B would be for the P (passenger) endorsement, if you don't already have it. Apparently the very unpleasant lady at the DMV is also ignorant of the requirements unless they've changed in a year. BOL
