Yeah I've called those guys about 3 times last week but no one ever picked up. That's why I asked all the questions here. Thanks for all the help. I put filled out the online application already...hope that doesn't shoot me out since I have to go get all the other stuff first...guess they'll have to wait. If it doesn't work out, I'm just going to work my butt off at a local job somewhere in order to save enough to attend this Smokey Mountain Driver Training in Sevierville. It's the same amount as what Swift charges but TMC and other flats recruit there.

Probably take two years to save up the money to attend though, setting aside a small amount each month. I DO want to drive..just trying to figure out how to crack the code to get in. I had less trouble getting Top Secret clearance in the Air Force lol.

Indeed, you should be able to use your GI Bill for the training.

Unfortunately I used most of it the last few years getting that worthless computer degree. No jobs down here for it anywhere. I do have a couple of months left on it...it runs out in August. I technically COULD still use it...and believe me I tried, but all of the training mills that get you on contract to work (like Swift etc) don't take it. I guess they figure they can't own you that way. There's only one place in East TN that does driver training that has a VA official to take GI Bill...but you have to get on a waiting list to take the course. Well by that time my GI Bill will be gone. I've been on there list before and it was a 6 month wait, they are suppose to call you when they are ready for you. But if you saw the place, you'd understand the reason why they'd forget. It's very..."po-dunk".

So, looks like my options are go with a Swift type company...or do this the old fashioned way of getting a temporary job and saving to go to Smokey Mnt Training School. At least if I do the 2nd one, it gives me time to drop some weight.

Very true. Luckily I'm employed at same company. I've thought about going OTR in the future. Trying to get as much experience as possible as far as traffic and tight maneuvering goes before I even start to look. I'll probably end up teaming with my uncle when I do.
I've got a whole heck of a lot to learn.
