Default Finally out of OTR Trucking

It took 2 years, but i finally quit OTR Trucking.
Thing I ain't going to miss are:
1. unloaded and reloading for 5 hours a day for FREE.
2. Fueling for Free.
3. Getting a reload a few miles away from drop, but my pick up time my be a 8 hour later, and of course my time was was paid a rate 8 hours x Zero.
4.D.O.T Gonna miss those guys. Making me sit there for a level 1 inspection. Of course this was done at no pay, and I might even pick up a fine for a minor detail.
5.Construction Zones.
6. Truck Stops
7. Crossing the border.
8. The Bull$hit

To the rest of you that do this for a living, I have respect for you and a little pitty.
Life is short, but not short enough when your living out of a Semi Truck.

When I make between $1200 to $1700 a week driving OTR...I fail to see how I'm doing anything for free. I have as tough a schedule as any driver, and see my share of challenges.

In my first two years, I learned how to work in this business, and learned all the ways I can boost my income. I found I can work a little harder when called for, or a little smarter. Some weeks I can pull in a monster check.

Is this about having a negative or a positive a mindset? I suppose I could whine, when I have to fuel my truck for FREE...ha ha ha...that's a good one.

After no raise in two years and a pay reduction coming (slowing my truck down) I got a local job no more hidden free bee's, like your truck will be out the shop in a couple hours.lol

I am gonna miss the towel heads leaving there trucks at the fuel island while I am on production pay as they do a little shopping.

I think it is funny that some people think they need to be paid for sitting at a truck stop or fueling their truck. I suppose that carriers should also pay drivers to go to the toilet or take a shower? I guess they need to pay drivers every time they eat a meal or get a snack? I EARN a very good living in this business. I don't need to whine about what I am not getting. Next thing we will hear that companies need to pay workers to commute to work.

That will be me, I get paid even to eat. i get 8 hrs pay even if i am home sick. All stats are paid at 8 hours and time in half if I work. 2 week vacation pay the day i started and 1 additional week paid every 6 years.

And my benefits are true benefits, no cost to me , only deductions are taxes and RRSP.

Hey Evinrude dont owrry about them OTR guys. If they like working for free more power to them.

Just to let you know Evinrude it is great getting paid for everything you do. At the end of the day i fuel my truck up (tanks at the yard) park it and do my paperwork and then go and clock out. As soon as i come in the morning i clock in before i even start the truck i am getting paid.
