Forced to stay out?
I have been driving with my company now for 6 months, i was running teams but he quit and I have been solo for about 2 months now. My dispatcher calls me and says hey we found you a team mate, i called him up and all sounds good. However when I was running team before i was out 10-12 days. Well, I was informed that that wouldnt work for them, and now they say I need to stay out 21+ days with 3 days home. I told them that was not going to work for me, and they basicly told me to try it anyways. Well I am scheduled to go out tomorow and I am planning on going in to operations and letting them know again that this will not work for me and my family. They have regional stuff where people are home weekends but they say I am in a team truck and I cannot keep my truck and they dont know if they have a truck blah blah, Are they just pressuring me to suit their needs?
I need advice quick please...

Yeah, I would say that they are putting the pressure on you. If you don't want to run team then don't and if you don't want to stay out more than 10-12 days then don't.
Are you willing to quit to move on to another company?? If they think you are, they will most likely back offl, just stand firm and be willing to move on. Good luck, let us know how it turns out

I appreciate the replies. This has cost me some sleep.
I guess I am willing to move on to another company. It just frustrates me that I am on the same dedicated run I was on when I was out 10-12 days. And now they want 21+... They preach that the company wants us to have a life outside the company but at the same time they want us to stay out 3 weeks with 3 days home LoL. I guess I will go with Plan A... go talk to them again. reinforce the fact that I have a family and being gone for that long isnt practical for me. Just not sure what to do when they say take it or leave it. Guess I have to leave it. I will give notice but still refuse to go for 21 days. Not sure how that will play out. I have all my endorsements and 6 months exp. It surprises me that as soon as my contract is up and I owe them nothing they go from treating me "good" to being unreasonable.. I just dont understand. Thanks again all.. and I'll be up for awhile checking this.. Like I said this is costing me sleep.

Sounds to me, they need to fill a team spot. As far as "team truck", is it any different than their other trucks?
That sucks you have a good thing going and now they throw a monkey wrench in the mix...and its not to benefit your pocketbook :?

Not sure what company you are with, although this sounds like a CRST type situation. The dedicated runs were under a whole different set of rules/policies. While running dedicated, I was off weekly. See if you can possibly get on to a dedicated run. Hope it works out.

yes i agree ... if you don't like what they are doing go to someplace that will get you home ... as for us ... we stay out 6 weeks or more at a time it's hard but that's what our company expects.
