Don't believe me? Remember this guy? http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3079105/ I am not telling anyone to run 8 hours straight. I don't do that either. But by the same token I don't stop every hour and waste time. I run for 3 or four hours then take care of business, quickly and get moving again. I didn't intend to give the impression that I run 8 straight hours. I have run as much as 9 hours non-stop....and it was a killer!! I'd never do it again....and wish I hadn't. But the fact remains, the fewer times you stop and log breaks, the less time you will "lose" in the book.

My advice?? Start out logging it as you drive it; after a few months, you'll have a better idea where you can shave of wasted time. Those 15min. segments DO add up; learn to use them to your advantage.

Who hasn't?
I don't know of anyone who hasn't fudged their logbooks. I wish my husband could just stop, but so far, the 2 places he's worked don't care about the law, they care about making money........ it makes him sick, but we need to pay our bills somehow.....
I'm going to pass along the below post, maybe it will open his eyes, and his company's as well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When I first started driving I wanted to be a "good" employee and a "team" player so I "fudged" on my logs at every chance I had. After doing this for several months I finally came to the conclusion that it is just not worth it. After I stopped cheating on my logs I noticed a few things. I was less stressed Better rested More productive. Which all translated into bigger paychecks. _________________ Finding the right trucking company is like finding the right person to marry. Ok 100% legal drivers. You are telling me if you wake up 6 hours into your 10 hr. break and have to use the bathroom#2. You get up walk across the parking lot wait on the 3 guys standing in line then you get your turn. Back to the truck you go. ok you know its been more than 15 mins. Are you going to start your 14 hr clock by logging it on line 4 or are you gonna fudge and just go back to sleep and leave the log book on the dash? I'm just saying NO body is gonna log that. NO ONE. I'm not saying cheat but everyone does. I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers, just stating the facts

If you get out of the sleeper and walk to the restroom and then return to the sleeper during your ten hour break, YOU WOULD LOG THE TIME THAT YOU LEFT THE SLEEPER AS OFF DUTY! THEREFORE, IT WOULD NOT EFFECT YOUR TEN HOUR BREAK SINCE YOU CAN HAVE A COMBINATION OF OFF DUTY AND SLEEPER BERTH AS LONG AS IT ADDS UP TO TEN HOURS! So yes, I would and do log all time that I am away from the truck while I am on my break.
