Dad used to drive every truck that the former BFI company had. Front End, Roll Off, Tractor Trailer, Residential........He did not mind it, work was always there but it could be nasty a lot of times. He usually started at 3 am and was home between 12 and 1 pm after his hour drive home. Could be home earlier now and then if he was able to bust thru the cans quick but dispatch kept changing his route from week to week because he was moving so quick.

You never hustle in the garbage industry. They only reward fast people with more work.

That is exactly right Splitter. Dad would bust thru his route and be looking to get home early only to be kept out to help another driver who was moving extremely slow that day. At one point, he was running 2 routes as one whole route in a day because they did not have enough drivers.

I dunno, around here it is Waste Management and those boys really scoot whether it be the resedential pickup or front loaders doing business dumpsters. I think here they basically get paid a salary so the sooner they finish the sooner they get to go home. You do not want to stand in the street when one of these trucks is nearby
