Congrats on the new job Mackman:clap:

I am currently going through the ridiculously long process with getting on with the local union here as well. The difference is I am going to go through the apprenticeship for equipment operators, instead of a direct hire. The hoops I have to jump through seem to be never ending. I scored pretty high on the test so hopefully I will get called in fairly soon, but I'm not holding my breath because work is dead around here and the training program isn't accepting as many people as they used to.

Right now, I want out of a truck so bad I could scream and I am willing to trudge along with the process to do so.

Sounds like you were in the right place at the right time and found one of those good jobs that doesn't come along very often.

Yea the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) is very hard to get into. I will be in local 542 but in the C - Branch which is quarry workers and Equipment Dealers. There rate is no where near as high as the A-Branch.

A- Branch are the guys you see on the highway and on job sites. They can make up to 50/hr depending on the equipment they are running. The avg wage for A-Branch i think is like 38/hr.

Local 542 does apprenticeship too. But unless you know someone or got pull you will never get in. You are better off trying to get a direct hire. These union jobs can be very hard to get but once you get one you are set for life. I been looking for a union job for over 6 years now and just got one. Like you said i was in the right place at the right time. Also was the 1st one to respond to the ad. It wasn't even up 2hours lol.

Anyway best of luck to you and let me know how it works out for you.

Well i took a ride down to my new job i will start Friday. Wanting to see if my truck was there. I saw a RGN trailer just sitting there with no tractor. Thought maybe they parked it inside or something.

There is a peterbilt dealer less then 1.5mile away so i took a ride down there to see the trucks on the lot and there was my soon to be truck sitting at the dealer. Must have got some work done to it. I saw there was some new exhaust and what not on it. So i took a picture. I didn't really hang around to long. I know it has a CAT in it. and a 10speed for a tranny and air ride.

I guess i will be pulling a RGN and not a landoll. Dont really matter to me. If i had to guess it looked like the trailer was around 45ft give or take. Tandem axle. Nothing big.

Well here is the pic of my truck so you know who to run off the road. lol
