I'm no fan of The Mormon Church, and I'm sure as Hell no fan of CRE, but if the LDS Church saw an investment opportunity in a company or a corporation, especially one that is directed by Mormons, then it seems reasonable enough that they would pursue it.

Why not?? One of my stock brokers is a Bishop in The Mormon Church; (he was the one who got me interested in LDS!!) he has told me otherwise. He did not go into any specifics, and that is as it should be!! The LDS Church is invested in many different venues of enterprise; while their dealings are held in confidence, it is known that LDS has very extensive Real Estate Holdings. Thee are other investments that are matters of public record. It is also known that The Church Priests, or Elders, or whatever title they hold, are reputed to be some of the best investment advisors around!! Legally, there is nothing wrong with this. Ethically??? It is debatable, but I could develop very compelling arguments on either side of that fence. Certainly, if other Churches are allowed to pursue investment programs, as many of them do, then there should be nothing to preclude LDS from doing the same!! Now the owner I have heard was Excommunicated from the Church But I don't know if thats true or not. In any event, this thread is supposed to be about CRE; sorry, I've helped vector us off topic!!

I knew a guy who drove for them back in the mid 90's and loved it. He told me of a load once going to a Canadian island near Maine to pick up potatoes. Ferry in and ferry out ($1200).
He left CRE to take a local job.

They ran into financial problems and the church bailed them out with a loan and terms of when someone in the church needed a job they would send them to England. So they started getting people who knew nothing about trucking and the sons hardly ever checked on the day to day operations. With that all the experienced dispatchers and operations people started leaving. Whats happening there today is just a matter of greed, pray on the person has no job, close to being broke and dangle a job and the opportunity to make some cash.

My Hubby just started with C.R. England, and "So Far" we have had a Good experience, and it seems to be a good fit.
If anything happens differently, then we'll just go with it. This biz I take it, is a "Roll with the Punches" type of Industry, for drivers, that is.
