Well dispite my obvious predisposition I might actually believe you.

My advice to you is to call whatever company you're interested in but don't give them your name or details until you find out what their policy on criminal records are.

Ask them outright what kind of limits on drug arrests or convictions they have. Only after you know one way or the other tell them who you are and man up about the arrest. Tell them you weren't convicted (if that's the case), and if they don't ask don't tell. But if they do don't lie and move on to another company.

BTW, do you smoke? If so you do realize that you will have to take multiple drug tests, and that weed doesn't go away fast.

Ya know, there may be a good while before you hear of anything like this. Then all of a sudden, all the drunks come in wondering if they can get a Class A right after they get a DWI. :P

Well, in his defense, New orleans is becoming like that from what I've heard on the news. He might have stated it differently and left a few things out, because you know where you can find sympathy on this board....

Seriously, if there's no conviction don't even put it on your app. or otherwise, you'll get reactions like sheepdancer.... :?

Well, Im always funny, but i was also serious.
No, I cant hire you. The second you mentioned it, you were disqualfied. Even if there isnt a conviction. They are very strict on recruiters like me. Even if a driver mentions drug use jokingly, Im supposed to disqualfy them and hang up immediately. Whether I agree with that policy or not isnt important. What is important is im not going to risk my job trying to squeeze by a driver into orientation with any "questionable" drug history.
Funny story, I had this lady in orientation and they asked if anyone in the room has ever tried illegal drugs. She was trying to be funny and mentioned that 4 years ago she "tried pot" and didnt like it. She was sent home. The point is you mentioning the incident is going to be treated just like a conviction.
Another funny story. Not too long ago I had a driver on the phone who wanted to drive for us 25 years ago he had a pot conviction. Since that time he worked 10 years as a cop. Nice guy, Im sure he was honest and didnt do any sort of drugs anymore. Too bad, I still couldnt hire him. He could be a cop but not a truck driver.
Also, if you are thinking you didnt get a conviction because of some adjudicated probation or something like that. Most likely that is still going to be treated like a conviction and will show up.
