Help - So my company doesn't screw the new guy!
I'm on the road to get my class A CDL, but it's going to take me a little time to get there. I took a driving job - Columbus, OH (light truck-medical supplies) and have been there for almost a year. Less then a month ago - boss told us we needed our CDL C and Hazmat. Three weeks later and long hours - it's done. But, they don't want to give me a raise. I'm trying to find averages - ideas - information - so that I can discuss a raise. But, I want to have my facts straight before I go in. Any help - I'd appreciate it.
Today, they were kind enough to give me the fifty cent raise they should have given me a month ago at my last review. But can't I make more then $12/hour with my Hazmat? Maybe I'm wrong - I just need someone to tell me. Advice, recommendations, dollars - anything will be helpful! Safe travels, P

folsom is right, dont expect that big of a raise. And, the fact you have an extra endorsment now doesnt mean youll get extra pay somewhere else either. If you get a job hauling the boom boom type of hazmat, you would have to have class a with otr experience. They arent going to throw you in a tanker full of boom without that experience.
