Pay the extra 50 and after 30 days it will be done with. NEVER just pay for a ticket. ANY ticket that shows up on your MVR will increase your auto insurance by a 3rd or more . Just make sure you have the deffered agreement SIGNED and IN WRITING.

I respectfully disagree. I've had several speeding tickets in my time and I have yet to have an increase in my insurance because of of them. Just the normal increase of rates and never more than a 5%.

So your rates increased, didn't they? It is always better to fight a ticket or defer it to keep it off your record than to just pay it and have it showing up on your MVR. A 5% increase can add up to hundreds of dollars within a year.

Now you know why Oklahoma is one big speed trap like Ohio.
Oh, c'mon! Now nobody likes to do 55. But it's the law. Why does that make it a trap? I just drove through Ohio TWICE and stayed at 55. I can tell you that EVERY truck on I70 passed me.

I think what makes it a trap is...........denial.

I think the big thing about Ohio that most drivers do not realize is that its the county sheriffs who are the vigilant county fundraisers. I've gone by Ohio's state troopers sitting in the median on I-71 at 60 miles an hour and they didn't even bat an eye.

Look at the 4-wheeler traffic that drives the Ohio interstates. They're typically going 80 miles an hour, they make illegal U-turns, and most of the time, they never get caught.

Fighting a ticket is just a waste of your time and money. You have an easy out so it doesn't scar your record and bruise your career. Take it.

A Judge cannot "defer" a ticket. The Feds took care of that. Pay the ticket, eat the bullet like a man, and watch your signs.

BTW... I ran north and south from one end of US75/69 to the other in OK for years, and was recently out there.... never got a ticket. There is no "speed trap there".... Just people who think the signs are decorations. Now if you think that is me being a "smartass"....think about this: You exceeded the posted speed limit, you got caught....because you assumed you could get away with it....so, who "screwed up"?

Slow down people, chill out....you'll get there at the same time anyway.

This is not an issue of law enforcement, but rather an issue of revenue enhancement, using LEO's as badge toting tax collectors.

Wrong?? Mafia like?? Hey, let's be realistic here; the mob wouldn't let you off for a mere 50 bucks!!

IMO, if the situation was truly as described, then yes, it is wrong.

Worth fighting??
Hey, if you can, in fact, pay the extra $50.00 & keep it off of your record, then by all means do so.

Considering the additional expense, time & trouble to fight it, I'd say suck it up, and boycott if you wish!!

In Texas, as far as I know, the speed limit change becomes effective at the point of the speed limit sign.

Consider this an education; fortunately, it is not an expensive lesson for you, and it may save you from more problematic ones in the future.

I'd have no problem boycotting states like Ohio. Too bad its nice place with really f*cked up speed laws.
