I ran into a driver who had been out for many weeks because of serious injury caused by a damaged landing gear that collapsed and spun the handle wildly while doing so. The spinning handle broke both his arms and tore hell out of his face, too.

Careful what you leave for the next guy.

Something don't sound right about that, the only way that would be possible is if the gearing gave way while he was messing with the landing gear with a loaded trailer sitting on the ground, and the weight of the trailer caused the landing gear to retract while spinning the handle.

The landing gear itself isn't heavy enough to do that by itself.

As I sit looking all around,
Confusion and uncertainty is all I found.
The answers are there,
But I do not know where.
Optimistic and hopeful dreams,
Are all I have so it seems.
The future I do not know,
So all I can do is take it slow.
But I do know it will work out,
So I wait and watch without a doubt

was going to say the same thing. you NEVER raise or lower the landing gear in HIGH gear with a loaded trailer...unless the truck is under it. Thats why they have LOW gear for raising or lowering the trailer when its loaded.

either that, or the 'transmission' in the landing gear broke or something unrelated to it dropping. something wrong with the trailer.....write it up.
