Default Home time vs. corporate office lacation

I have been reading a lot of posts where drivers seem to say that your ability to get home time is tied to how close your home is to the companies corporate office/terminal. How much impact does your proximity to the home office really have to do with getting home time?

I live about 20 minutes from Interstate Distributors, Inc. corporate office and have received a Letter of Intent to Hire from them contingent on successful completion of school. If I were to get hired by Interstate, is that closeness likely to allow me easier to get home time than if I lived a long way away?

I have talked with them about driving solo in their 11 western states region.

Living near a terminal will definitely help you get home more often. Plus when you need maintenance or repairs, you can drop your truck off at the shop and go home verses sitting around all day waiting on your truck to get fixed.

never had a problem getting home. if you live near a freight lane thats better. I guess if you lived in the woods in the middle of nowwhere might be a problem getting home.

I agree that living near a terminal could be helpful in getting home, but if you live near major traffic lanes (i.e.- a major interstate) where the carrier regularly travels, you should be able to more readily get home consistently. Before accepting a position with a carrier, you should ask about the freight lanes they use and when they can usually get you by the house.

Default Coporate Office/Terminal

Don't confuse the two. Proximity of a terminal or yard may or may not have anything to do with home time. Client shippers/receivers may have more to do with ease of getting home time. BOL
