Dont buy into the "slamming the other company" nonsense. These people have nothing to do all day except bitch and moan. Schneider is a good company , as is Roehl. SNI stresses safety BIG TIME and there is no log book fudging or any other stupidity allowed. I think that alot of you folks have no idea what a good-payin' truckin' job is all about. You all high-five each other over .38 cpm LOL. Heck, a middle-of-the road LTL linehaul outfit will pay you .48 cpm out of the gate, home every day, and paid for all miles driven. Top-rate at a union job or non-union company like FedEx is up to .54 cpm. You just drive, drop your sets, hook to another, and head back home. No messing around with shippers/receivers/grocery warehouse and all that other time-wasting garbage. And should you get stuck on a laydown or held-up then you check-in to a hotel. Nice ones too - Red Roof, Holiday Inn, etc. You just sign your name to the company account and get your continental breakfast for free. No filthy/noisy truckstops, deserted get-off ramps, or pissing in a parking lot.

If Schneider is such a "safe" company then why did Roehl just receive the American Trucking Assoc top award for the safest company in the country? Roehl doesn't every let us drivers forget about safety. Nothing bad about Schneider. I could have gone with the Pumpkin since I was in Wisconsin but chose Roehl because of their stand on safety.

If there are companines out there that pay .48 out the gate, how about listing them, I haven't seen any. Most of the people that I have read bashing other companies have personal knowledge, I have been doing alot of reading on this site and has been helpful in talking with drivers of some of these companies that are getting verbally bashed. No matter where you go, what you do, there is always someone who is going to complain and think it's better somewhere else. Man! go with what works for you, you have to start somewhere and if it's .37 cpm x 2500 mi. + any other additional stops or layovers or what ever =$925.00/wk then to me, that doesn't sound too bad for a beginner. Try and find that right out of college today. .48cpm? Who? Talk is cheap if it can't be backed up.

I think they all do that. It is not them but the VA. I went to JB Hunt truck driving school over 17 years ago fresh out of the military. I never drove for JB Hunt and decided to drive for some else thinking I had to repay JB Hunt for the training. They had me believing that if I didn't drive for them for a whole year I had to pay for the school. I said okay an went to drive for someone else. While on the road I was talking to another vet over the CB and he explain to me that when the VA rep stopped by our class to have use sign some papers, thats is why we didn't have to drive for JB Hunt or repay them. I DIDN'T CALL JB AND THEY NEVER CALLED ME!

because CFM can't list them. and if he does they will be UPS, Yellow, etc, all of which need experience...at least a year or better. this is his thing, get on here and bad mouth anyone for doing what he cannot handle himself. get your experience without job hopping then look into the other companies that pay these rates. and by the way, most do not start as high as he claims but after being a casual driver for 2 or 3 years then you can start to work your way to those rates, about 3 years. and sometimes those jobs are harder than otr...all night driving, no time for breaks, 10 hours off and at it again, all night long. i am not sure CFM that these guys are looking for expeince and someone with a brain in their head to help them, not some low life that repeats the same shit over and over again. we get it otr bad, your ltl jobs good.

re: If you are recently discharged from the Army
Thanks for your thoughts. I am a child of the 60's. I got my honorable discharge about 30 years ago.
I have a question for Soladad though... I would PM you but I don't have enough posts to do so... What is the domicile distance from Bensalem, PA for Roehl 7/4 7/3 Hometime drivers? On the website it says 150 miles, but from my "recruiter" I am being told something else. I appreciate your input. respects, Dennis in SE PA

Besides, you would need to park your car there(outside the yard)

Thanks PA,
I am not sure what you are saying. Are you saying the 150 mile radius does not apply to the Bensalem drop yard? Any idea why? I am about 1.5 hours away. So if I was on a 7/3 7/4 or 7/7 plan I would have to drop the truck at that yard? I guess I am better off with a 10-12/2 plan where I can take the truck home. I live in Exeter. Any idea where I can park it? Especially in the winter when they want it plugged in? respects, Dennis in SE PA |
