So if I was on a 7/3 7/4 or 7/7 plan I would have to drop the truck at that yard? I guess I am better off with a 10-12/2 plan where I can take the truck home. I live in Exeter. Any idea where I can park it? Especially in the winter when they want it plugged in? respects, Dennis in SE PA I used to drop the trailer and park my truck in my driveway. Parking is not good here and Roehl wants you to have a trailer(MT or loaded)

My wait times is mainly zero. Most are drop/hooks. If they are live load/unloads I don't wait as most are on appointments. I was under a food warehouse dry load earlier this week delivering at 23:45 and didn't get unloaded and out of there till 2:30. Much is preloaded trailers. However, if I have a live load again I have very little wait (30 min at most). Most of the time I am backed into door after checking in. Believe me if I had to do much waiting I would have moved on long ago. I don't like to sit and wait. There is only one load out of Dallas that is a tailgated load by driver that I have ever had to unload. Paper is usually large rolls which require fork lift. Paper goes everywhere in the country. I have hauled paper out of Green Bay, WI to Buffalo, NY just to pick up paper in that area and take it to upper Maine. Grabed a paper load out of Rumford, Maine just to haul it back into Wisconsin. Lots of various grades and types of paper. Other freight is mainly a "Fits on" routine. If it fits in a van it can be hauled. Clothing, food, Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, Wal Mart, water, doors. Just think of it and it is hauled. Did a load of fork lifts a while back. Always interesting. There are a few customers (Lowe's, Walmart, big chains) that you will go into several times in the course of a year. Other places you will haul several loads out of and then don't go back for months. I keep all my routing and directions in my computer. I use Microsoft Street & Trips with GPS. Makes going back to a place real easy. Just find the file and modify as needed. Soladad

Roehl had an account called Tuesday Morning awhile back that ran out of a DC in Farmers Branch, TX. It was 3-5 stop retail store loads with floor-loaded freight. Fun stuff.

well Dennis I leave for marsfield to start the 3 week school tomorrow. I plan to take my lap top with me but am not sure how much I will be able to keep up with posting. I will try and check this site 2x a week so if you have questions just post them and I will try and answer them. Not sure if you are still going with roehl or when you start your school.
BOL to every one

Sorry I didn't get back to your questions sooner. Had hometime and no time for computer. Answers to your questions Time waiting for next load? often I get my preplan for next load before I am out from under current load. Or preplan is sent when I get my unloaded call in. Otherwise less than 1 hour when freight is running really bad D/H looking for trailers: less than 15 min. Most drops are in good drop yards. Most places tell you where to drop loaded and MT trailers. My d/h are under 15 min in actual work, I don't move fast so I might have an additional 15 min of paper work and preparing to drive (quick sandwich, potty break, etc). I find that I don't have a lot of wasted time with Roehl. Oh there are days where the whole universe is out to get you but I think that any driver that has been out here for awhile will tell you they have their days too with their company. Soladad |
