Oh I forgot you are looking for your cell phone. I hope there is a good attorney in your phonebook.

Jim (the O.P.) said"

also, the said child is 19months old. not much negotiating going on there....Er maybe I missed a 'how to be a perfect parent class' that covered the part about cell phones being toys....
Maybe you missed the "how to be a responsible truck driver class!"

Your cellphone is your lifeline in today's trucking world! NEVER leave home without it! And NEVER leave it where a child can reach it!

This is too simple! You are pissed at your company for your OWN failings as a driver! This is your JOB! This is NOT "Romper Room!"

Every truckstop I stop in STILL has payphones available. One should NEVER, I repeat NEVER head out towards a receiver without perfect directions or a phone call to said receiver.

To do so, is irresponsible as a driver, and cannot be blamed on anyone else, let alone a child!

Grow up and take some responsibility. Don't blame your company for expecting YOU to be prepared. And don't try to give them an excuse that is the fault of a child!

Your CHILD is NOT the truck driver.... YOU are!

Act like one!

With most local operations the dispatcher or someone in the office is supposed to call on residential deliveries and make sure someone is home or get instructions for delivery etc.

This was a comedy of errors that all came together at one time.

After all he did find the house and no one was home for a COD delivery. Again, at most places thats on the office/dispatcher.

His mistake was not calling the office before bringing it back, even though a call probably wouldnt have changed much, the customer wasnt home. Still he shouldve called. 100% wrong.

Bring backs happen every day in local deliveries.

Cell phone a life line? LOL, thats hilarious. Wow, how did the old timers ever do anything? I'll bet 99% of the time he can complete his route without a cell phone.

You supertruckers who never make mistakes or have a bad day kill me! Nobody's perfect, yet some of you act like you are.

One of the only good post I have seen come out of this whole mess (topic).

Thank you Snowman.

It is quite simple Snowman, the old timers found a pay phone and called like they were supposed to. Now with the advent of cell phones, pay phones are disappearing faster than a new plate of chicken at the buffet, which makes it even more important to have your phone with you. .

So I'm not going to drop the load at a house that could be the wrong house, plus it was a C.O.D. so I simply say to hell with it, I felt that I made my efforts, and took the load back to the company yard (which is not the same place as where I load), and went home
.

As far as nobody being home for a COD, Jimbo wasn't even sure he was at the correct place. Who knows, the guy that ordered it was probably waiting.

What part are these dumbasses missing here? Am I supposed to knock on people door to ask to use their phone because of the all important 1000 pound load of rebar?!?
That is what oldtimers did in the old days.

BTW, Supertruckers make mistakes all the time, we just don't blame them on toddlers.

Actually Jimbo (as in me) was at the right place. Actually took the load yesterday morning.
When handed the directions that the office people finally deemed necessary to have, I read them, and just laughed. It's just that damn funny. Ahhh well.............................................. ............

Well guys, have a good weekend. I'm gonna go eat some beer and drink some BBQ down at Rockys pit. Yes....I know I know...I should drink beer...I'm a cdl holder.....Thats why I'm gonna eat it instead. DONT WORRY! The 4 year old is the designated driver for the night. 8)
