Jobs in Indianapolis?

wow...gotta love folks that put words into others mouths. never said i was 'afraid' of driving in bad weather, just alot more carefull. But also, not going to take a load into detroit when its forecasted to dump 3 ft of snow on the ground over the next 48 hours, then get stuck, and unable to deliver my load, then get socked with a service failure because i didnt watch the weather report.
If driving on ice and snow dont make you a little nervous, you had better check your pulse.

You're the one who started a thread bashing every driver in the world who doesnt do things the same way you would. You seem to be the one who always acts perfect. Just so I know where your coming from. You defend Kevin for getting out of his truck and moving barricades but in Dle's thread "What would you do?" you would not only report the guy but video tape him? Whatever. Kevin learn about the current financial situation at YRC. They are the biggest LTL company in the country and on the brink of bankruptcy. If they go under every LTL out there will be hiring immediately. Some have already started collecting applications so they are ready to go if it happens.

I think we all make mistakes but people like picking on Kevin because he's well...Kevin. Which BTW Kevin has demonstrated he's more than capable of defending himself. After all he's still here and still with Swift. Personally I respect him for both.

This appears to be defending Kevin and any other driver who used bad judgement:
yoy have to remember, this board is filled with a lot of perfect drivers who have never shut down due to weather, never had a wreck, never had a ticket, never been in any kind of trouble, it's hard for them to relate This is a post from you in this thread http://www.classadrivers.com/forum/anything-everything/39014-should-i-report-let-lie.html#post467372 you people amaze me!! you cant control it, mind your own business, perhaps he will kill someone next time.. with your logic, if I see a drunk driver, I should mind my own business, I have no control over him. if the driver is stupid enough to go in the exit and then instead of turning around and coming out the right way, he backs up a one way ramp. he is a complete moron and a danger to everyone and needs at the very least some more training I would report him AND send the company video so they could see what they need to do. And this is your thread bashing fellow drivers, which BTW was pretty funny: http://www.classadrivers.com/forum/n...-like-pro.html So when you bash other drivers its OK but when someone else does it its not OK? Just want to know where your coming from thats all.

Actually, I was asking a very serious question. If you're not going to run in bad weather, what do you do when your whole area is blanketed with bad roads? Or, are you now telling us you're going to take your chances like the rest of us? If you're going to be running local, you do not have the option of taking runs that don't go into the bad weather. Simple fact, nothing more. And, if you resent the fact that I may be popping your bubble, better you consider that now than waiting for "Ma Nature" to hit you full in the face with it. Is it something you thought about in your choice to move to Indy?

Anybody know of any local gigs around the Indianapolis area? Just ran into some nice information that my brother-in-law's father has a house near the speedway that he's looking to sell for just whats left on the mortgage. I've always wanted to live in Speedway, or near IMS. I've heard there is a rock quarry co. near there, but forgot the name. figure if anybody had some good places to work at around there, maybe you could toss me a name or two? i'd appreciate it.

Driving in all kinds of weather is part of this job. If the roads are bad enough, you're damn right I'll shut down until conditions improve. If your company holds that against you, then it's time to search for a better place to work. If they try to push you to run "past your abilities" as far as the weather goes, don't call them on the phone about it, put it in a message on your Qualcomm. That way, if they do continue to pressure you to run, the blame is squarely on the company.

A snow shower that is only forecast to drop an inch or two, is a far cry from a severe winter storm that is forecast to dump a foot or more snow, dontcha think? Would be foolish for a driver to NOT know the weather conditions of an area his preplan has him scheduled to go into. I've been told drivers get service failures because they accept a load without taking weather into consideration. Say you are in KC, and take a load to Detroit, you dont check the weather, and see that Detroit is forecast to get 18 in. of snow, starting with freezing rain, and they already have a winter storm watch 2 days before the storm hits. Now you accept a JIT load, then get 'caught' by a system that its planned to be nasty. You shut down to be safe, now the load will fail. I can understand both the company and drivers side of the argument on that one. I just wont take a service failure for being ignorant.
