No "grease" :hellno:

I'm nice and dont complain  Don't get me wrong, I have had to sit before.

I.E. Fresh Express in Yuma, I used to sit for hours and hours there. So I started to help out, by having my paper work ready, and helping out the guys on the dock.

Do any of they drivers help out the dock guys who do the trailer wash out. Hell no, they stand up there and complain about how long they have to wait. I get out of my truck goto the back of the trailer, grab a hose and do my own washout, they come and inspect it, straight over to the dock 9 times out of 10. While the other drivers who dont like to help, and piss and moan, goto the waiting yard  I get in and out fast in that place, even if im early for my appointment, they get me in early :moon:

Being nice to people goes a long way

i am nice to the point where i KNOW i'm feeling the screw around, or when i'm looked down upon and spoken too with such disrespect. I'm not a driver who will come in and moan and groan to the S&H desk of a shipper or cosignee. If i could have helped to get that trailer loaded quicker, i would have done it. anything to get me rolling faster...no problem. HOWEVER....most of the time i'd just feel in the way....and dont have the first damn clue how they operate, so i just stay in the truck.

Next time though, if a pre-loaded trailer isnt ready by appointment time, it either turns into a live load, and i remain on property, or ill just have the load voided off me.

Quaker Oats in Cedar Rapids did this to me. Turned out the trailer wasnt ready, and the lady in the office asked if i wanted to leave or stay on site and turn it into a live load. i chose the latter because if i stay around the trailer, i know when it is ready, and can roll faster.

what ended up happening, the load was on the other side of the warehouse, and the guy asked if i could reposition the trailer to the other side of the place to help getting it loaded faster....so i did. and was loaded within 30-40 min.

Most people respond in kind. When you treat others with respect it is usually reciprocated. If you come in with an attitude then you are also likely to be treated with the same.

Do to others what you would have them do to you.

Your doing the wrong job. I used to be the *****hole behind the shipping window  Back then I felt all truck drivers were dirty nasty scum, just a waste of time and space. " i was young and dumb, back then" But I remember some guy coming in to pick up three pallets. He was rude to one of my labors, I had him sit for 2 hours before he hit the dock, then 4 hours to get him loaded. Then I had the guy at the gate screw with him as well. Then I called the people getting the three pallets and told them the load would be late and for them to screw with the guy as well. See how easy it is to screw someones week up

Now when I turned 24 I got into a hay truck with a freind, and was hooked, then after being out on the road for a while I realized that the guy be hind the shipping window was me years before  Just remember everyone has bad days, trying to make them brighter is all ways nice. Plus your probally the 20th trucker and the 19 before you were all *****es

Yeah, well those in S&R that respond like that are not professionals and should be fired, most of the time you can report morons like that to their managers and they will be taken care of appropriately for wasting a truckers time.

oh trust me, i know how easy it is to screw with someone. You might not know, but i worked for an airline for 8 years. It was in an 'international' airport, but small enough station that sometimes required us to work both ticket counter and ramp. Our flights just went from, we'll say Omaha to Phoenix, and we had 5 a day. This one guy i checked in, wasnt in that great of a mood, and then ..... OH MY GOODNESS..... the seat he was assigned by his travel agent was changed. (honestly was like that when i tried to check him in)...he got annoyed by that, but i still got him a window seat. Something snapped, and when i asked how many bags he was checking in, he got in a huff and made a scene about how his bags went missing on the way up. Guess what....his bags somehow went missing on the way back. (this time i know what happened.....they somehow git mistagged to San Francisco hahahahaha)

the best story i got, a buddy of mine was checking this parent of an employee in. Now remember, parents get to fly for free as a 'non-rev' passenger. It isnt a 'right', it is a 'perk'....and it is free. you only get on if there are seats left after paying passengers get on. This flight there was plenty of room. But he raised a stink about his golf clubs getting lost on the way up. So much of a stink that my friend pulled him aside, and said, "look, this is a privilege, not a right. you have to act as if YOU were the employee, and right now you arent. this 'privilege' can be revoked at any time, sir."

The guy ended up relaxing a little, and then when we told him he'd get his seat up at the gate, he raised a fit because the flight was so 'open', he wanted a seat right then and there. he was directed upstairs to the gate. My friend....taking the bag tag for phoenix off....and put a hand written tag on. Now the golf clubs were going on our airline to Phoenix, then transferring to Continental bound for San Diego and then switching airlines again, to Aloha Air for Hawaii. HAHAHAHAHAHHHA........dumb @#$% !!!!!

now my gripe isnt with just getting screwed with. I mean if i went in with a bad 'tude and gave them a hard time....i could understand that. But that isnt 'professional', and doesnt represent the company well. I remember when i interact with a shipper/cosignee, i AM the company, to them. I act as if it were my own company. I dont kiss *****, but then again, i wont just stand there and let them talk down to me either.
