What you need to do is talk to your doctor and find an alternative medication without the potential for causing safety related side effects. Don't just stop taking your medications. The potential consequences are far worse.

MCAT, Twoxland??

Better study a little Remedial English first!!

The flaming didn't start until after you copped such an attitude...... which began upon your second posting to this thread. All anybody told you was that on those meds, they didn't think you should be driving a big truck...... To which you quickly told them that you didn't care what they thought!!

If you don't care what experienced drivers think, then why did you solicit their advice in the first place?? Mental health issues aside, and meds or not, with your piss poor attitude will get you nowhere in this business..... and if you even think of trying to bring that attitude into a Med. School Prof's class, you'll be out on your ass before the first class session ends!!

Did it ever occurr to you that as experienced drivers, these people might know something you don"t??

Gotta' little secret to tell you, 2x!!

Most medikul skuulz rekwire you too be abel two rite on more than a kindergarten levul !!

I didn't read one statement where someone judged you or flamed you for your illness. This is just a site for some information and some fun as far as I'm concerned so if you want to drive a truck you better grow an extra layer of skin. I'm guessing you still live at home.

Yes, please keep taking your prescribed medication.
Go see your Doctor, and tell him you wish to pursue a driving career. Tell him you have concerns about being dis qualified due to your medication, and is there some way he can help you treat your illness, and not pose a risk in driving. There may be some new medications available, and it may take working with your Doctor for a few weeks to come up with a solution, which will not be a safety concern.

Also, talk to the safety department of the company you are interested in. It's not the DOT you will have to satisfy, if you are on the prescribed medications you have mentioned. Those medications are not a part of any DOT dis qualifier. Companies have their own list, which has much to do with insurance companies, and legal issues, in the event of an accident, whether the fault is the drivers or not. Take this list to your Doctor, so that everyone is on the same page.

I think that you wisely chose to come here first for answers and advise. :P Have your Doctor or the Safety manager call us, if they need any consultation. We have experts on staff 24/7.

Tell your Doctor we said he needs to give you a letter indicating your medical treatment, in detail, and that you are cleared for driving a CMV. He will also have issued you a DOT med card, with his recommended clearance period. It may be 6 months to begin with. Take this with you to company orientation. The company you want to hire on with, will want you to see their own Doctor. If you go in armed with your proper pedigree, you should be good to go.
You are not going to fail a UA test, as long as your prescriptions are in order.

Sorry you have to deal with something like this, but as you are aware, it is under your control to manage. If it presents limitations, you will have to deal with it, and seriously, we will try to offer you what help we can.

Actually, Roadhog;

I think he should tell his doctor that he needs to have his dosage increased.

With an attitude like his, he'd need a heavy dose of Ex-Lax before they could do brain surgery on him!!

.....Of course, given his attitude and linguistic skills, after they give him the Ex-Lax, I doubt there will be much brain left to operate on!!
