need help finding employer W/ weed ticket
Well, here is the story....I am attending Tri-state tuck driving school here in Middletown, Ohio. The problem I am having when looking for someone to pre-hire me is that when I was 20 I got a marijuana ticket. It was a simple pay out ticket but what I'm starting to find out, is that most companies need it to be at least five years old for insurance reasons and I understand that. Trans-am will accept people with minor drug charges like these but thats the only one I am finding..
My question is there anyone that has had the same problem and know of anymore companies that may take me with this on my record and it not five years or older? I understand the reason for this and why their insurance or the compnay it self doesn't want drug offenders driving their trucks. I also understand that it was dumb to get such a ticket and my only explanation is that I was young and wasn't thinking of the consequences my actions would have on my future. Please don't post commenting my grammer or spelling, It's a forum not a formal letter of some kind. Also Please don't post comments saying negative things about what I did or telling to give up on this because I know it was a dumb mistake and I am owning up to it. Not that I can't take or handle the negative criticism but it just doesn't help me in anyway right now. thanks in advance for any help that you may give -Jon p.s. I am 23 years old, 24 in march and I got the ticket in Jan of 2006..once agian thanks for any help. Last edited by Jescincy513; 01-15-2009 at 08:10 PM.

Go with Trans-Am if they will hire you ,because with such a recent charge your choices are limited for a few years .

I won't preach to you....but I sincerely hope that you are not now, or for some time past smoked any reefer, or taken any drugs not prescribed by an MD. If you have....you will be found out. We "Professional Drivers" are subject to Drug Testing at the time of hire, randomly ...which will happen when you least expect it. We are also subject to testing on demand of the employer for any reason they feel necessary, and also in the event of an accident. You didn't do anything that millions of others didn't do...but you got caught, and now you are experiencing some of the "downstream" after effects...... Keep it right, keep it tight....and you should be ok.....

Take your "breaks" where you find them.

another thing that is making this hard on me is alot companies don't list no drug charges or atleast fives years old on their requirements, so I have to call and ask before I fill out apps and I think that looks bad on myself for asking suck question to an employer.

Sounds like you're getting it together. Persistence pays off. Get on with someone and hang in until the air clears.... The big thing that is going against you right now....isn't really the history, at least not as much as the fact that the economy has slowed down, and a number of transportation companies have shut down....there are more "experienced" drivers out there filling empty seats and companies are in a position to be able to pick and choose more. Remember....its the squeaky wheel that gets the grease!!

Now is probably not the best time to be attending truck driving school, and the drug charge/s certainly are not doing you any favors but you already know that.

I'm guessing somewhere between Cincinnati and middletown OH. judging by his name and the school he is attending.
