Needs Quality Advice
My wife and I are Christians and love the Lord. We are considering a new career in the trucking industry and need some quality advice. We have tried posting on other truck driver forums and most of the responses are very negative about starting a driving career. I drove a 65 ft transit bus for 11 years and enjoy driving. We both like traveling and meeting new people. We are both hard working people, not afraid of long hours on the road, and are loyal to the companies we work for. We are looking for some positive responses also. If we decide to embark on this new adventure, what companies would be a good choice. We are considering CR England, or CRST, because they both come through the Seattle area often. We are praying about this matter and the Lord has not closed the door on are thinking, yet.
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Merry Christmas to you all!

i would put Gordon at the top of the list forget about CRE do a search and you will know what people will say about CRE and 99% of it is very true.
Gordon has a team run from the West side to the Midwest and back perfect for teams give them a call also there is a couple poster's on here that drive for them. Also you might check out the great pumpkin they say their Training is one of the best and you can go to there forum for more detail www.pumpkindriver.com goodluck

CR England pushes their fleece purchase program, so I would probably steer clear of them, because of that particular program. You may want to expand your possibilities to include other companies. I assume that you are looking to a company for training. There are several who may work with you. I believe Covenant comes to your area. I used to see a lot of their trucks when I ran out there. I spoke to an individual who went with Covenant with their spouse. If I remember correctly, they trained separately and then were put together once they completed their training. Swift is also a training carrier and runs the left coast. I am sure there are others who might work with you, as well. CRST used to have the shortest time commitment for training. I don't think you will feel pressured to get into one of their fleece purchase deals as you will with some other carriers. If I were you and your wife, I would find a truck stop and talk with some of the drivers who stop. Information will be more current with these people and you should be able to get better information direct. There is a Flying J and TA, as I recall, in Troutman. You will find more company trucks stopping at TA. Good luck to you.

Truck driving is like any other job---You get out what you put in. Do your research and find a company that fits the lifestyle you and your wife are looking for.. Always remember the highest cpm does not always make you happy--especially if home time is #1 on your priority list. Good luck

Interstate Dist. is right there in Tacoma. I have heard nothing but good things about them, especially from husband/wife teams. I would definately look to them if I were you.

Try to stay away from larger companies like Werner, England, Jb Hunt and the pumpkin trucks.
Look for a smaller company that is also interested in you and your wife as people and not just as a robot. A couple co's come to mind. Seward Motor Freight in Seward Nebraska.... Small family owned bussiness with maybe 50 trucks , Lots of freight and will give you home time when and how long you want http://www.sewardmotor.com/ Or FCC / Fremont Contract Carriers Which will give you the same as seward. Talk to Tom (recruiter) there or Mike (CEO) Both of which are great people ! http://www.fcc-inc.com/ Both these co's will provide transportation for your wife and yourself to orentation. With Hotel, Food and orientation pay... Good Luck ! |
