Default A note to new drivers

Well Hello everyone i know its been awhile since I have been here. I thought i would reflect on my trucking carrer which some of you know has well colorfull at the best of times.

1. The grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.
If you are going to go to a company school MAKE sure u FINISH thier comtract!!!! I didnt and my credit is ruined for 7years now. I went to the C1 school at newport AR for PAM transport if u do not finish thier 1year contract they will charge you $5000 at 28% intrest. So please if you are going to do something like that make sure your ready to stick it out a year or whatever the contract is.

2. Accidents happen, more to some then others lol, If u read my past posts i have had a few lol I know everyone here has heard it before but TAKE your time and GOAL as much as needed it dont matter how many trucks you are holding up. Remember they are not paying the bill if u hit somethingg or someone

3. IF you feel unsafe to DRIVE its simple DONT DO IT, I have learned the hard way i dosed off and ended up on my right side. NOT FUN. I was lucky i worked for a 4 truck company and they owner knew he had pushed me to hard so in an aggreement we shook hands and i left.

4. DAC can be a hassal everyone says its evil, but im not going to lie everything thats on my dac happened. the key is to get a copy of your dac and make sure your info and the companys match up.

5. dont piss off your dispatcher to much, lol i know there are dispatchers from hell, but remember they control wheather u get home or not and how many miles u run. Keep everything Professional and use the Chain of Command to your advantage. call the dispatchers boss then if u have to call his boss. but the key is to keep it professinal

6. Control your spending on the road, you can go broke if you eat all the time in the TS i try to eat one meal every other day in the TS yea i know sandwichs and snacks get old after awhile but paying 15-20 per meal adds up

7. this one is not ment to offend anyone but i admit i weigh 403lbs i gained almost 100lbs in the last year on the road, so please eat healthy out here or it will kill you an me.. most TS lots are big that a few laps around walkingwill help greatly. Anothere bad thingis soft drinks, a they are full of suger and they make u pee more lol ok enough of that.

8. this is anothere one of those things people dont talk about. Make a MED kit to keep in the truck I have a thermo lunch pack (like te ones ki take to school) under my bunk that has a first aid kit some tylnol peroxcide and a few other things and REMBER iff you are allergic to BEES to make sure you keep MEDS current and stocked with YOU, i had to help a driver about a moth ago at our ofice b/c he didnt have any meds with him, lucky for him my son id allergic and i keep a pen handy, it kept him alive till ems could get to the office.

9. this is one everyone whos drove truck for any time has come across, CARRY TP with you, because you Never know when u might eat something bad and get out in BFE where there is no bathroom. not to be gross but a good sise trashcan and a stock of wal-mart bags is a must.
If you pee in a bottal or what ever please dispose of it right not on the side of the road.

thats all i can think of right now, im sorry if i left anything out plese feel free to addto the list im sure some of the old hands of CAD can add much more. sorry for the grammer ad spelling im writeing this on an Idleair unit in el paso at the petro.

I hope this will elp every new driver out there

.

Excellent insight, who says experience is not worth anything. Well done, good luck with your future.
