Off the Road
Hey all, just wanted to put out a thank you for everyone who replied to me and listened to me ove the past 15 months. I turned my company truck in on Friday (I was a Roehl driver) with the hopes of landing a local gig.
Well as it turns out a friend of mine works for Sysco up here and my first day filling out apps I got hired by them. I will be working my tail off humping freight but thats ok seeing how I put on a few pounds over the past 15 months. Pay is not bad either. Starts at $17.68 hr and goes to $18 something after ninety days. What blows my mind is I applied to a couple of gas companies and they only wanted to start me at $11.00 hr. I said thanks but no thanks. So again wish everyone well here. This is probably one of the best boards I have seen out here on the internet. Keep up the good work mods. Thanks again. I will definately be keeping touch on the board and I will let you guys know how things are going.

Welcome to SYSCO. :P
Yeah, you will work your butt off. Good thing about throwing groceries, it's like going to the gym every day. You will lose the weight. I hated the hours when I threw groceries, but I was slim. Now that I am shuttling every night, I've gained a lot of it back. That's the bad thing about shuttling, it's just drop and hook. Not hardly any labor. The money is good. You will have great benefits. Good insurance. I dont know anything about New York, but if its like us, or SYSCO Dallas, you should get cranked up around 5 in the mornings, and once you get the hang of it, you should be done around noon or so. It's a fast paced job. |
