Default PrePass?

I have never used it or had a truck with it until now, May trucking has it in almost all of their trucks. Question is.... I get conflicting reports at scales, my PrePass gave me the Green light but the electronic scale sign told me to enter scales. This was at the weigh in motion scales entering AZ from CA on the 10 last week. Needless to say I entered the scales.

I even got a green light on the PrePass at the banning scales. I went it, but I did see about 10 trucks go right by as I was waiting in line.

So the question is.... which to you go with the PrePass or the scale sign?

Default PrePass

I'd go with the scale sign until I know for a fact that Prepass is working correctly. BOL

Yep, get it there pretty regular. Also if I get a Pre Pass Light I just go on by any scale the sign says "Pre Pass equiped trucks follow in cab signal".

you see a sign before the scales, PREPASS SITE FOLLOW IN CAB SIGNAL...... this means if you get a green light you don,t enter the scales but drive on by like the rest of those trucks you saw...... the scale sign says OPEN ALL TRUCKS MUST ENTER, those are the trucks with no prepass installed, now if you GET A RED LIGHT you must enter the scale, its that simple...... ohhh and if no light at all and scales are open or its not a PREPASS SITE then you must enter like the ALL TRUCKS sign.....

It even says to follow the PrePass light on the PrePass brochure they recently sent out with my bill. It used to be the other way around- but it seems to have changed.

I usually get the red light at Banning- each scale can set their percentage of PrePass trucks they pull in- I think Banning has an unusually HIGH percentage they pull in, though!

Ah but if it's a pre-pass site like the one on I-80 just west out side ohmaha Ne...you might get a green light on the pre-pass....But if the sign does not light up saying ..truck ok to by-pass...and instead says truck must enter scales...you pull in ...regardless of the color light your pre-pass gave you...

Not according to the instructions that came with my Prepass. If you get a green light on your Prepass and at the same time the scale in motion sign reads, "Truck Must Enter Scales" and the Must is underlined in red, you bypass the scales and, indeed, that's the way I've always done it and I hadn't got a ticket yet.

Infact, after your Prepass receives a green signal light from the Prepass scale site, it will keep on flashing for fifteen minutes afterward in case there is any question and you end up later being stopped afterwards. Just show the officer your flashing Prepass and supposedly you'll be off the hook.

Thanks for the help guys..... I will see what happens at banning later this morning.

As far as the Weigh In Motion, with the "Truck enter scales" or "Truck by-pass scales" sign that lights up as you drive by. Its seems like we have two different opinions. I got the green light on my PrePass but the sign said Come In.... I went in. I guess next time I get the green light I will by-pass and see what happens. Thanks again
