Quitting my First Year OTR
If I recieve company paid training and quit before my first year is up all I have to do is repay? Do I get a bad mark or something? Would it be hard to get another job for another company?

Yes, you have to repay and you are not going to have one thing you can't buy, experience. In this job career like many, you are going to have to pay your dues. Stick with it and get some miles under your belt. It is not an easy life being OTR but it beats alot of other jobs out there.

You'd be better off staying through the full year. Your options will be much better with a year experience. It also shows potential employers you are not a job hopper.
Plus, most company paid school loans will not pro-rate the loan repayment. If you leave before you've been there 365 days, you will end up having to pay back 100% of the FULL loan.

You will have to repay the money for your training, plus any collection fees. So, you better understand the terms of the contract BEFORE you sign your name. Make sure that you get a copy of any paperwork that you sign for future reference.
If you turn in your truck, all company property and your paperwork to the location that the company tells you to. You should'nt get a black mark for it. Most companies will report any accidents or incidents on your DAC report. So you should have your next job already lined up prior to quiting. You should also have plenty of cash available for your trip back home or to your next company. |
