Having a hams license only lets you use ham equipment that scan. Not a scanner like the ones you are talking about. But you can get down to the scanning frequencies with a ham. But you can't have just a scanner and tell them you have a hams license it doesn't work like that. Never talked on a scanner before. Just went over it for my license for a ham. The cop might not know the difference.
I would just use the old speed thingy on the dash.

some of our Phoenix running linehaulers used detectors....till one of em quit. Then every truck that was using them started getting pulled over. The 2nd one they got was fined $187 and accidently saw a list that had the truck numbers that used them (the officer leand over to look at the bumper number and tilted the list so the driver could see). I remember the Canadian crossing in Blaine, Wa. used to fine you, then place it in front of your drives and have you roll over it, then hand you a dustpan and broom to clean it up.

One of our drivers showed me the picture that the nice weigh station man in Colorado gave him of the radar detector sitting on the dash of his truck as he was going through the scale.
Also showed me the ticket 1st answer was the best, use the speedometer, observe speed limit signs and drive safe. Couple miles per hour slower aren't going to delay you that much anyway!

Also, even if someone came out with an "undetectable radar detector", on Monday at 8AM, more than likely by 5PM that same day there would be an "undetectable radar detector detector"...... Remember: Discretion is the better part of valor. There are ways that the so called "detector - detector" will not detect the presents of a radar detector. But to my knowledge no one builds such a unit. kc0iv I'm going to invent a radar detector detector detector. anybody want to invest?

Yes, those white lines are the tell-tale of who's using aircraft to track you. Their "radar" is arachaic, they use a simple stopwatch and time you from Point A to Point B and then look at a cheat sheet chart to see what your speed is. If they have the money, some use a computer on the airplane, they hit a button to start the timer and hit it again to stop the timer and the computer instantly spits out the speed. The computer is just an overpriced stopwatch. VA has those lines and they do use the aircraft. Easy to tell when one is flying around, you will see a trooper sitting in every crossover you pass.
