We had a guy quit before EVOI because it took two weeks to get him a trainer. Last I heard he is having a very hard time finding a job. ONce you get that year or so under your belt and are not a wacko you stand a better chance of finding trucking jobs

My 1st post here as well...I have to agree with EK5858. I.ve followed Dennis,s post with interest on this board and another with as well. When you feel like your the only one making a major decision to alter your life by changing careers, its nice to see others who are in the same boat . Im starting RoeHL,S RTDC March 17th . I certainly appreciate all the advice I read on this board . I wish Dennis good fortune . ...Icedog

I did not like spending that much time in a truck with another person. I guess it is a phobia.
I also decided I did not want to work for a large company because of the jetsam/flotsam associated with their size. If this is not to be understood by others there is nothing I can do about this. If it takes me awhile to get a decent job with a small company that is OK. I am not in a "pinch" over this. I have another job which I did not give up. I will do this trucking thing, in my own time, in my own way. When I figure out how to do that you can be sure I will post the details here. I will say I am sorry if some people are affected that I did not complete this mission. I did get my cdl-a and I did get 2100 miles driving experience in an 18 wheeler including several real world alley backing dockings. I am happy with that so far. Sorry if some feel I left them down. I am happy with my progress and position so far. respects, Dennis in se pa

Hey Dennis -
Hey Roehl came to school today to give us the pitch. I can understand where you are coming from. The ladt (Sara) was pushing their new Referigerated division. So the cog in the machine would get smaller and the machine IS getting bigger.

You're not the only one, seems that Roehl's having a real tough time getting people to pull their reefers for them.
Apparently when they bought out Blume Farms, 60% of their drivers did not meet Roehl's employment criteria, so they had to let them go. Now, with such a shortage of reefer drivers they seem to be in a pinch, and I have yet to talk to another dry van driver who will touch a reefer with a 10 foot pole. Haven't really made up my mind about it, and if they ask I may mind pulling one, but the one thing that I cannot tolerate is frequent driver unload. Oh, I'm not opposed to the work, but I had major back surgery 6 months ago, and my back simply can't stand up to that kind of thing. Have yet to lump a load yet, and I'm hoping I can keep it that way!

Does Roehl pay you to fingerprint loads?
