Default Rookie w/ CDL-B needs your advice.

I know this site is called CAD and not CBD, but bear with me...

I'm 21, turning 22 soon. I got my CDL-B when I turned 20, but am having a really hard time finding B-truck companies that hire people without any commercial driving experience (I live in MA). Every company I've looked at (with 1 exception) require at least 2 years CD experience.

If I want to start driving now without having to start out at the bottom somewhere, is my only realistic option going the Class A route? Have any of you found yourselves in a similar situation when you started out? Did I just waste $3000 for trucking school?

Thanks!

Did you pay $3K to attend a CDL school for a class B license??

Hmm...for that amount of coin, a Class A license makes more sense.

However, since you've got you're Class B, keep knocking on doors.

Have you tried LTL companies? You may have to work the dock for a while...but...at least your foot is in the door.

Best!

Really? I'm in worcester county. Where I-495 and I-90 intersect.

I'm waiting to hear if I get hired from Waste Management, but I doubt I will. After all, why bother hiring a rookie...

How about the school you graduated from? Do they have a job placement service?

Have you tried local moving companies? How about food and beverage companies like Coke, Pepsi and bottled water companies. Generally, jobs that require lifting have high turnover rates, so somebody will probally give you a shot. Afterall, you are young and should be in decent shape.

They do, on paper. But it was useless. Their idea of job placement was giving me the URLs of major companies (ex. www.cocacola.com) and telling me to apply. They gave me one number for an oil company but I could not get a hold of anyone nor could I find its location on a map.

I haven't looked into coke/pepsi etc. actually. Dunno, maybe I'm picky but I'd like to deliver something that's important and necessary. Of course, if I can't find anything else I will check soda/water companies out.
