I tried it, it didn't work for me. I go down that hill at least once a week and sometimes twice and see several drivers smoking the whole way down, it isn't just me.

There is a difference between being condescending and 'telling it like it is'.
Me thinks you don't know the difference. In almost 10 years, I would guess I have seen almost as much as you have in 30 years. Heavy loads, extreme hail, snow, fog, hills, etc. You don't hold the monopoly on experience or experiences. For the record, I will never use slow and steady pressure again. It's the way I learned back in 1995, but I learned better at a later date. I personally find it difficult to take any advice from someone who acts as you do.

The problem as I see it is when you share advice, you dish out advice in a manner that gets people's hackles up. I'm not the only one obviously. It's not a matter of being young and arrogant. I take advice all the time from more experienced people. Try a dictionary. You are condescending to a tee. Maybe you mean appeasing. I sure didn't. I have been driving for going on 11 yrs now. I have seen a bunch of things in that time. One thing I have learned is that although I have seen most of what the "Old Timers" have seen, I do know that they have seen those and different variations of those ways many more times than myself in my almost 11 yrs. I will listen to anything that someone who has more experience than I has to say and take that advise any day! Now, with that said, that does not mean that I agree with it all the time but, it is still useful. I have done the brake thing both ways and I have found both ways to be good. I believe that you just have to find what works for you and go with it. Ben, Listen to what these guys have to say. Just because it did not work the first time does not mean it does not work. You might have had the brakes on too hard or not hard enough. You may not have been in the propper gear and so on. If someone who plays in the NBA tells you how to shoot a basket ball and you go out and do it that way and it does not go in, does that make it the wrong way? No, you just need practice. The reason NASCAR brakes cool so fast is because they have a dedicated air cooling vent in the front of the car that is made just for cooling brakes down. Each brake has its own cooling vent. Big trucks do not have that. Car brakes and truck breaks are as different as night and day. Now, I am not trying to bash you hear or to stand up for anyone else. I am just stating my opinion. BOL
