Um.... you didn't actually B-E-L-I-E-V-E me, did you Greg???

I'm just waiting for the "MOOD" to hit me again! I think I'm gonna go over to the truckstop and get a steak dinner and inhale some diesel fumes to get me "primed" first!

Is your dispatcher giving you loads that are "pushing" the HOS?

Have you NEVER spent a 34 hour reset on the road??
I truly believe what is important will get done.If you want to see the country you will if not then take a nap. i drank my way around the far east in the 70's in the Navy and don't have not a picture now. Not much chance of getting back so there went that chance. All I can say is get a camera and see America now while it is still out there.

I do not understand why all the new members, right after they sign up, go back and bring three year old threads back to life.

Some of us, when we first come on, do searches for areas of interest and add to them. How many times have you seen someone come on here and ask a question only to be referred by an oldtimer to a 3 year old thread or be told to "search" for something. Poor newbies just can't win either way they go.

As to the topic.....when I first started driving in the early 90's the wife and I locked up the house and spent a year on the road taking time off in areas we wished to see throughout the US and Canada...had a great time. She was a non-driving partner. We'd ask for time off but, instead of wanting to be routed through the house we'd give someplace else, pull into a truckstop nearby and rent a car for 2 to 5 days. After spending 20 years in the army and lots of time away from each other...it was a great time.

Having said that...nowadays I'm mostly by myself and only a couple times a year does the wifey come out with me. Nowadays it's one of the 11 grandkids. Just the other night my son, who lives in Alaska, asked me if I'd take his 2 boys (seperately) out with me for a week or two to see our country...my son evidently enjoyed the trips out with me more than I thought. Great places to see...and a great time for quality one on one time.

Just one of the many ways to make the job alot easier.

Only reason I'm mad at not being able to do it right now is the fact of being stuck in the same city for years.
At least when I was driving, I didn't have to worry about remaining in one place for too long.
