Default Started School

Hey guys,

I just finished my first week of school in my CDL training program. This is my second academy I've been to.. I've already been to a training academy in new england for 250 hours.. Didn't cost me anything.. my dads friend owned the academy.. Anyways.. never went for the cdl cuz I was 18.. I'm now 21.. And living in Alabama.. notice the test is incredibly easy compared to the one in new england. SO Heres my question. I've only been financed for a couple of companies.. Swift Stevens or.. Covenant.. Maybe Werner.. Not sure. Anyways I'd like to find out if maybe anyones heard of any of these companies running up north.. Like to maine or nh? Really would like that.. Idk the recruiters are full of hott air, and the teachers at the school really wont tell us anything.. And its starting to piss me off lol.. SO someone help me lol

I wouldnt go with them. Lol. I don't know anywhere else up there to get it..Theres some in maine I belive..Thats all I know.

You shouldn't have a hard time finding a company that runs the Northeast but alot of drivers do not like to truck up there myself included, I think its really pretty up there more so in the fall when the leaves are changing but the congestion for truckers which they are not used too is the reason I think. If you find one that goes up there they might check you out as a driver b4 they they truck you up there (skills wise) I hope you find what you are looking for and as far as the recruiters your right on target with that ask alot of drivers that work for the companies you are interested in goin too and i mean alot as they will be happy to answer your questions, you will get lots of differen't answers but you will have to use the B S filter and pick the company that will take you that matches your needs.
Also once you get in some time at a company you might be able to get a dedicated run in that area or you can use your experiance and take it to a company that fits you better bol to you

You should have been to my school. All their road trucks were cabovers (which lead me to fail my first company road test, in a conventional, like all the other companies at that time, except Wal-Mart, JB, Schneider, and a handful of others.) Their yard trucks were GMC Topkicks or GMC crackerboxes, and maybe a few old Macks, and all the conventionals were day cabs, with windows in the back.

It did little to prepare me for the real world, though I did luck into finding a job with a company that was running all cabovers, so I didn't have to deal with learning a whole new way of doing everything right off. (I got my first conventional in March of last year, actually. It wasn't as different as I feared, after I had nine years under my belt.)
